A popular feature of social media is the LIKE button. Facebook popularized this and it has since been adopted by many other social media apps and websites. Many sites utilize a voting system to help rank popular posts and promote respected users.
Forums usually didn't utilize such a ranking feature but it seems to be a great way for users to engage with a topic or news article even when they might not have time to expand their opinion with a comment.
So, I have implemented a new Upvote system on Scified! You must be logged in to vote and you are limited to 1 vote per post. Currently, only forum topics and blog posts (news articles) are available to Upvote. I plan to expand this feature and implement a new member ranking / reputation system as well.
In order to Upvote a topic or article, simply open up the topic or article and you will now notice a new thumbs up icon beside the link to read comments:
Simply click that icon to Upvote! When you have Upvoted a post, the thumbs up icon will change to a solid white icon to confirm your Upvote, while before it displays an outline:
This opens up a lot of doors for us and you can expect to see this option expanded throughout Scified by means of organizing top rated topics / articles as well as accumulating your own personal reputation points! (More on that later)
