Scified has been upgraded for 2025 and the updates keep rolling! This article will help new members and legacy members better understand how the site works, how to post content and what the different types of content we accept is!
Scified acts as a centralized hub for science fiction franchises, offering a blend of credible news articles, informative lore, speculative theories and fan discussions. To better differentiate between these different types of content, the site is organized into 3 primary sections: Blogs, Pages and Forums.
To contribute to Scified, members must log in and then open their Profile Menu (top right of the page):
Content Sections
Blogs
Blogs on Scified primarily act as news categories and general editorial content. Blogs can be managed by members after certain conditions are met, but only staff managed blogs have their posts featured on the homepage and news feeds. This is done to maintain credibility for any coverage on topics our readers rely on. Staff members are vetted and hold more responsibility in representing the site professionally, so content posted to Blogs is subject to greater scrutiny and approval.
How to post to a Blog?
Open your profile menu (top right) and click Submit Article! Any registered member of Scified can submit an article but every single article submitted is subject to manual staff approval.
In order for a Blog Post to be approved, it must:
- Be well written with proper grammar
- Offer quality information
- Be original
- Provide relevant news / information
- Provide sources for any news shared
Pages
Pages are organized in a Database, we call Sci-Fi Movie Lore & Info and are a new addition to Scified, acting primarily as information resources. Pages published to this database are updated more frequently and provide more long-form content. This section acts like a wiki, but is not available to the public or members for edits. Pages are fully managed by Site Staff to maintain credibility and reliability.
Pages are not available for regular members to publish, they are read-only. However Staff and special member groups can gain access to edit pages once properly vetted.
Forums
The forums on Scified (located using the Community tab) are designed for general discussion, speculation, debate and rumors. Content posted to Forums are called Topics or Discussions. In some cases forum topics meet criteria which make them eligible for news. Topics that meet this criteria can be featured on a Blog / Homepage news feed at the discretion of Site Staff. Topics that are shared to the homepage are published as a Blog post, however the original author of the Topic being featured is also credited for the publication of the Blog post and gains additional XP as a reward! It's a way we can highlight efforts by members of our community for helping us cover news, even if they might not have the right member credentials yet to post to Blogs.
Members who consistently post newsworthy Forum Topics and have their content shared to Blogs can be promoted to News Staff and have access to publish more freely to Blogs and sites across Scified!
How to post to in the Forums?
Open your profile menu (top right) and select Start Topic! Once clicked you will be taken to a page which lets you select the appropriate Forum category for your topic, unless you click the Start Discussion button on forum pages respectively - then the Forum category is automatically selected for you.
Any new topics by new members or members with low XP are subject to manual staff approval. Once members make enough quality posts across our network and gain enough XP, approval on new topics is no longer necessary.
In order for a Forum Topic to be approved. It must:
- Be original (no duplicates - use the SEARCH feature to check for pre-existing topics)
- Offer something of value / substance (lazy topics with no real content are removed)
- Be legible - while grammar isn't as strictly enforced in forum topics, we still ask that you make an effort to make your content legible.
- Be engaging - the purpose of a topic is to inspire discussion / debate.
Other forms of content on Scified are being added and upgraded in the coming weeks! This post will be updated as new features are made and upgraded.
