Things are starting to move forward on Ryan Coogler's X-Files reboot! According to Deadline, Hulu have officially ordered a pilot episode for the new series and Jennifer Yale has joined the project as showrunner. Starring Danielle Deadwyler so far, the new season may also see a return of franchise icons David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as well. Back in April, 2025 Coogler mentioned having spoken to Gillian Anderson about revisiting The X-Files, but their involvement is being kept tightly under wraps for now if so.
With Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day movie landing in theaters this June as well, society's interest in extraterrestrial and supernatural phenomena is only ramping up – prime time for a show like X-Files!
A release date for the new X-Files reboot has not yet been announced but we'll keep you well informed as new details surface.

Ryan Coogler (Sinners, Black Panther, Creed) is rebooting The X-Files for Disney and 20th Century Studios. While specifics about the reboot remain shrouded in secrecy, it's rumored that David Duchovny (Fox Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully) will be making a return and reprising their iconic roles for the new series.
