Rather than complete the trilogy of Hellboy movies with Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman the characters creator Mike Mignola has instead opted to reboot the live action adaptation with director Neill Marshall (The Descent) and American actor David Harbour (Stranger Things) in the title role. Sadly the movie made headlines recently when British actor Ed Skrein (Deadpool) was cast as Major Ben Daimio. With Daimio being of Japanese-American heritage in the comics Skrein's casting rekindled accusations of whitewashing in Hollywood. After the British actor stepped down from the part he was replaced by Daniel Dae Kim, who now joins Ian McShane as Professor Blum and Milla Jovovich as the movies yet-to-be-revealed villain. In a bid to move press for the movie away from the negativity sparked by Skreins initial casting studio Lionsgate has released, via Twitter the first look at Harbour in full prosthetic make-up as Hellboy...
The Hellboy reboot is scheduled to hit theaters January 11th, 2019.
