Hollywood has been after a new film by the character of He-Man, protagonist of the DC Comics series 'Masters of the Universe' for many years. There was already an adaptation, in 1987, with Dolph Lundgren, Frank Langella and Courteney Cox, but it was a complete failure (it cost 22 million and only grossed 17 million), although today it is considered a cult film.
But what we all remember most is their animated series, which was called 'He-Man and the Masters of the Universe', which was on the air between 1983 and 1985, based on the toy designs of Mattel, the company responsible for this whole shared universe. You all remember the song from the beginning, for sure. Having the magic sword by your side, and friends who will not fail. The evil forces, they will want to kill him and they will never rest.
Now, in this new version prepared by Sony Pictures (which bought the rights of the he-man characters from Mattel back in 2009), it seems that the studio and those responsible for the film already have their sights set on the next He-Man: Noah Centineo. But who is Noah Centineo and how does that name of the sound?
Who is Noah Centineo?
Noah Gregory Centineo is a young American actor of 23 years to which we know mainly by two films of Netflix, that wonderful quarry: 'Sierra Burgess is a loser', which co-starred with Shannon Purser (the legendary Barb of 'Stranger Things'); and 'All the boys I fell in love', which is already preparing its sequel.
But not only that, this year we will also see him in one of the most surprising and long-awaited reboots: 'Charlie's Angels'. It is quite strange that Centineo is the studio's favourite to play He-Man, whose main characteristic is his striking physique, closer to Arnold Shcwarzenegger than to Noah Centineo.
Who is He-Man?
He-Man is a character within the 'Masters of the Universe' universe. He was originally born in the early 80's at Mattel Toy Company as an action figure, and always came with mini-comics with his story, until DC bought the rights.
Actually He-Man is Prince Adam of the House of Randor, and thanks to his sword, he can become the super-strong warrior that He-Man is. With his friends and his sister She-Ra, they try to defend the kingdom of Eternia from the evil Skeletor and Hordak.
Since its creation, He-Man has had several adaptations: the animated series created by Filmanimation; the film starring Dolph Lundgren; and the most recent 'She-Ra' for Netflix.
And the new film?
The new adaptation has gone through many hands: from John Woo to David S. Goyer, to the current directors: Aaron and Adam Nee, directors of 'Band of Robbers' or 'The Last Romantic'.
The film will start shooting in Prague in mid-July 2019 with a view to release in mid-2020.
