Rupert Murdoch, a business magnate, a week after turning 83 recently sat down with Fortune; Murdoch is the founder, chairman and CEO of global media holding company News Corporation, the world's second largest media conglomerate, and its successors News Corp and 21st Century Fox after the conglomerate split on June 2013.
Thanks to Deadline for spreading the word; Murdoch disclosed, in this first comprehensive interview since 2009, that Fox is planning to step up the production of major films and has one or two or maybe more sequels to Avatar. Currently there are three Avatar films to be filmed back to back in New Zealand. - Avatar 2 is set to release in December 2016, with the subsequent sequels to follow in 2017 and 2018.
"If we make it, it will be the first time [director] Jim Cameron's been on time or on budget. But he's never lost me. When he finally comes through, they're just huge hits."
