In a minor news update for the Power Rangers reboot film, Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Mission: Impossible III, Transformers, Fringe) has reportedly dropped out of his executive producer role to focus on the third Star Trek.*
What does this mean? Not much really. The movie will simply be without any of Orci's influence. The release date of July 22nd, 2016 has not changed and Ashley Edward Miller / Zack Stentz are still penning the script for Lionsgate and Saban. Currently no director is attached.

I for one never felt that Orci's involvement with the movie was going to be very extensive. It was already clear that much of his time would be devoted to Star Trek and he was never attached as a screenwriter for Power Rangers. The heavy lifting was always going to be on Miller and Stentz. I don't imagine the final product will be much different with Orci's name no longer part of the film.
Stay tuned for more.
