After being pushed from 2016 to January of 2017, Power Rangers is being pushed back to the arguably more enticing release date of March 24th, 2017. Late March has become the new kick off date for the blockbuster season and may speak for Lionsgate's confidence in the project.
In addition to being a more hopeful release period, March 24th was initially Lionsgate's release date for Ascendant, the final movie in the Divergent series. With Hunger Games and Divergent leaving Lionsgate's franchise stock, it seems they're putting bets on Power Rangers for future entries. Suddenly, hopes for the movie are a little higher since the studio is likely banking on another successful franchise.
Power Rangers stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott (Red Ranger), Becky Gomez as Trini Kwan (Yellow Ranger), RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston (Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart (Pink Ranger) and Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor. (Black Ranger) The character names were confirmed by the official Power Rangers twitter.
Stay tuned for more information as it comes!
