After the rather polarizing reveal of Rita, the question of when we would see the new Ranger costumes wasn't far behind. We didn't have to wait long. Per an Entertainment Weekly exclusive, the new, high-tech Power Rangers are here! Check out the updated costumes below.
Although it's a radical departure from the spandex, and even latex armor of the 1995 movie, the Zyuranger influence is still there: The diamonds in the middle of the chest, the prehistoric animal helmets and even the power coins on the abdomen call back to some very basic design elements from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers we all know and love.
However, as some have pointed out, it seems heavily inspired by Iron Man, with some elements related to Tron and Guyver thrown in as well. (And I swear the abdomen armor is lifted directly from the batsuit in 2005's Batman Begins.) I suppose such a high-tech update isn't so surprising—Actually it's very much expected. Regardless, there's little doubt the new look will be polarizing to fans as well.
What do you think of the new Ranger designs? Is it a adequate call back to the original Zyuranger suits used for Power Rangers? Or do they trail too far from the original? Let us know your thoughts below!
