We finally have some new information and a look behind the scenes on James Cameron's highly awaited sequel to his blockbuster heavyweight champion from 2009 Avatar! In a fresh preview for next year's release of Avatar 2, Entertainment Weekly have debuted a number of behind the scenes images from the set, as well as some new information about how the film has been created and who will star in it!

- Sigourney Weaver is back in a top secret role!
- Kait Winslet will be reuniting with James Cameron and will play one of the native alien species to this new ecosystem.
- The plot revolves around the preteen offspring of Jake Sully and Neytiri and the lengths parents will go to in order to protect their children.
- The film takes place along a tropical beach location on Pandora.
- Performance-capture technology has been revolutionized to work in underwater environments.
- The cast had to undergo rigorous scuba-diving training to perform scenes completely underwater. (While holding their breaths)
- Much of the performance-capture work took place in a massive 900,000 gallon tank designed specifically for the Avatar sequels.
- The alien race found in the Seas of Pandora are called the Metkayina.
- Kate Winslet plays one of these Metkayina named Ronal.

Much like how Avatar was riddled with heavy undertones opposing deforestation, Avatar 2 will undoubtedly encourage viewers to be more conscientious of preserving the life and ecosystems within our Oceans. Next to filmmaking, James Cameron is obsessed with the Ocean and protecting its many wonders and beauty. Avatar 2 will be the platform which allows Cameron to combine both his passion for filmmaking and his love of the Sea.

It's also mentioned that principal photography on Avatar 3 has already wrapped. Visual Effects work are being handled by Weta.
Avatar 2 will arrive December, 2022 while Avatar 3 will arrive in 2024.
