Warner Brothers have officially pushed the release date for the Mortal Kombat movie sequel all the way to summer of next year! The next Mortal Kombat film will now hit theaters May 15th, 2026 – initially it was going to hit screens this October.
Why did Mortal Kombat 2 get pushed? Simply put, Warner Brothers and New Line Cinema are banking on the film being more profitable in May, 2026 instead of the crowded release schedule this October. As Deadline reports, pre-screenings of MK II have scored extremely well, giving the studio even more confidence in the film's anticipated success.
Directed by Simon McQuoid, based on a screenplay by Jeremy Slater, Mortal Kombat II stars newcomer Karl Urban as Johnny Cage! Cast also includes Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, with returning stars Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi / Scorpion.
Mortal Kombat 2's official release date is set for May 15th, 2026!
