Did you enjoy Mortal Kombat? Well you'll love to hear that the actor Joe Taslim, who portrays the Lin Kuei assassin Sub-Zero in Warner Brothers' Mortal Kombat movie will likely be returning for not 1, not 2, not 3, but up to 4 additional sequels!
In a recent interview with Variety, Taslim explained that when he signed on to play Sub-Zero that his contract extends a 5 film deal. Including Mortal Kombat, that leaves 4 sequels on the table! This also means Sub-Zero or versions of him... will play an important role as the story evolves.
SPOILERS AHEAD
To summarize: Mortal Kombat sees the return of both Sub-Zero and Scorpion, engaged in their life-long rivalry which spans centuries. The film concludes with Scorpion defeating Sub-Zero however, and his body is transported to another dimension...
As many fans have suggested, this will likely lead to the inclusion of Noob Saibot in any follow-ups to Mortal Kombat. With Sub-Zero having been killed, his soul was transported to the Netherrealm and there, he becomes the Wraith known as Noob Saibot (the name is a subtle nod to Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon). In the games, Noob Saibot joins an evil group who call themselves the the Brothers of the Shadow and who worship an evil, fallen Elder God.
If Sub-Zero returns as Noob Saibot in the Mortal Kombat sequels, this also suggests a more prominent role for Shao Kahn as well, as he is one of the masters who command Noob Saibot.
Whether or not Warner Brothers plan to revive Bi Han as his Netherrealm Wraith has yet to be confirmed, bit given Taslim's contract, we assume within the next 4 sequels, we're bound to see Noob take to the silver screen sooner or later!
