WOW! For those who have not seen the trailer yet, please watch below. We have a lot to go over.
A lot happens in this trailer so lets break it down piece by piece. We open up with a scene of the new "Area 51" base. The stark reminder of the mother ship destroyed at the end of Independence Day lays in the background of an alien hybrid military base. 20 years since the victory against the first invasion, we are reminded about some of the consequences our characters faced in the years following the War of 96.
It's amazing what 20 years can do! (Before & After)

We are once again reminded about President Whitmore's fate. While ID4 ends with President Whitmore and David Levinson shaking hands celebrating, following his presidency we learn that he faced PTSD and has retreated back to his estate in Virginia. During the 20th anniversary speech by President Lanford (played by Sela Ward), we are reminded about the technological advancements made by harvesting the alien technology.
A brand new Washington D.C! The Capitol Building looks must thicker, maybe this time it can fend off an alien laser.

The new mothership has also been of great use in previous trailers. The monster ship hovering over the Atlantic Ocean is coming in for the landing. The thousand mile wide ship is sure to cause some tsunamis and more destruction... With more scenes of epic air battles, we here David Levinson say "I had all these years to get us ready, but we never had a chance".

We also see some sort of monster being used during one of the ground battles. With its massive size we can assume that it is alien in nature, and probably isn't too friendly to humans. I think what captures this entire movie best was the final line of David Levinson saying, as he swoops under the London Bridge "They love to get the landmarks".
