We, the fans want Hellboy 3, Ron Perlman wants to return in the title role for Hellboy 3 and director/writer Guillermo del Toro wants to make Hellboy 3. Yet up until recently the likelihood of Hellboy 3 getting green lit was exceedingly low despite the fact that 2008's Hellboy II: The Golden Army raked in over $160 million, compared to the originals $99 million, before Marvel Studios' comic book movies were popular.
According to The Daily Beast, Legendary Pictures have stated to del Toro that should Pacific Rim 2, which begins filming this fall, be a success that they would happily fund and green light the long awaited third Hellboy. Considering that Pacific Rim amassed $411 million at the box office, and with the recent and successful release of Godzilla establishing the “monster movie” as the latest movie craze, all that remains is for del Toro to deliver with his Mech v Kaiju sequel.
