I loved watching Scary Movies like Horror, Thriller and Sci Fi and nothnig disturbs me nothing scares me i dont recall any movie and i am going back to being say 7-8 years old to well over 25 years ago.
Apart from......... Dog Town ;) Those in the know will know what i mean and that scene still makes me feel a little uncomfortable. Yet the rest of the Movie never bothered me.
I always say anyone who is a bit scared or freaked out of movies well there is one movie to break them in.
And @invaderzim42 the Noris Scene was the best in my oppinion ;)

My greatest childhood fear, ironically, was alien abduction...it terrified me to no end and yet, strangely enough, I wanted to watch showa like 'Unsolved Mysteries' or 'The X-Files' that had all of this stuff in it....I always had trouble getting to sleep, because I was concvinced they were waiting until I drifted off to take me..
I remember an episode of 'The X-Files' in particular called 'Duanne Berry' and it opens with him getting abducted in the middle of the night....I was terrified for a long time after that...........
ReplyStarbeastPrometheus ForumGuy PearceApr 1, 2012
It certainly is Weyland for me. IIRC, Scott and Lindelhof eluded to an older/mature Weyland to be in the movie, during their Q&A for the second trailer.

I have done a slow analisis of a few scenes that all link to this scene.
I dont think they are burning the Mutand as in Fifield.
There are a group of Crew members with Flammers inc Vickers who are trying to destroy something on the floor by Torching in.
Fifield Mutant ambushes they from off the ATV, seems to Kill or injury one of them and then start throwing the others around.
Then the Mercs come running in and letting off shots at Fifield.
Thats what i read from the scenes, but then what are the Crew led by Vickers trying to Destroy and why does Mutant Fifield attack is he trying to stop them destroying something i.e protecting it.
Could it be escaped Shaw Baby Squidy, or some other Alien DNA related Organism or Work.

Oh this is easy
1. Watching a somewhat cultish flick, Burnt Offerings. I was very young, but my older brother was watching so i had to watch to. If you know this film, then you know what I am talking about when I say . . . "the chauffeur" No make up, no effects but scared me to death, had me crying and stuck with me to adulthood. If you have never heard of it, think The Shining but on a much smaller level with twisted mother AND father.
Underrated classic.
2. The Exorcist. Wouldn't even watch this one until i was a few years older. And it delivered. When I went to see the director's cut, I still had some problems getting to sleep.
3. Bathroom scene in The Shining -- Ultimate slow burn. It terrified me and nothing happens!
ReplyflexerAlien Movies Forumold computers in AlienApr 1, 2012
Nice topic here! When I last watched the Alien I actually thought that the old looking software used in Nostromo computers actually made more sense to have on board space ship then sophisticated interfaces we see in modern movies. All those crazy UI things we see in Hollywood movies are ridiculous. Have you ever seen MacOS or Win7 looking interface in air jet cockpit computer display? Or in a submarine? Do you think they can't actually place that stuff in there? Of course they can, but they don't because the more complex UI the higher chances that it fails at some point. And spaceships need to have the most reliable software possible so it makes perfect sense to use text based UI.

Yes can be very ..... an old rumor told that he was in heavy prohestetics ....and since hes a very old peter weyland that can be very true . ( the empire magazine confirmed that )
that scene in part of the hangar fight ... 2 are tryng to burn the mutant and there are those 2 mercenaries that exit from a door shooting ..behind them the old man helped by a woman ( ford ? ) and more behind another woman that look very like a sick shaw .
( also the mouth look very like Pearce's one )
Replydallas!dallas!Alien Movies ForumNightmares- How has ALIEN impacted you?Apr 1, 2012
I can't say Alien affected my sleep the same way that Exorcist, the Shining and a few others have. But in the moment, watching it, I was scared and fascinated in a way I wasn't with those others. I was one of those kids raised on Star Wars and ET and then this comes on one night and WHAM!
I do remember seeing commercials for it when I was like 5 or 6 and was equally just mesmerized.
And I second Cylon_Xeno's thoughts. Huge shock.

Yes I've heard about game developers consulting with Ridley about Prometheus, but Colonial Marines is going to be another shoot em up game with hundreds of Aliens attacking you and being massacred as if they were random zombies. Not that I don't like this genre but it seems like we've already had too much of that in the previous Alien games. There have never been an Alien game with strategical elements in gameplay. But now when the Prometheus introduces some new global and epic ideas and focuses more on Weyland corp it's research in terraforming, space travel, biotech etc we could have a smarter and deeper game.

Scarves aside, I don't think Logan-Marshall Gray or Gold or whatever is any more or less annoying than any other actor in the previews, and that is not a dig against the others. But Fifield does seem to steal the show.
and Yaphet Kotto as Parker
maybe . . . and Sean Harris as Fifield? Parker does last pretty long. Who knows?

How are they on the wrong side of the hangar? If rt-02 is on the left when we're looking out the hangar towards the pyramid, then rt-02 should be to the right of rt-01 if we're looking towards the hangar and they're coming towards us. Isn't that what you're showing us? Am I missing something else that you're pointing out?

My thoughts exactly. Maybe cut to Ripley with that intense look on her face, "Can you hear me Ash!" And maybe even a little bit of a jump when we hear, "Yes. I can hear you." Then cut to Ash.

They have incorporated some of the Prometheus story line into the new Aliens Colonial Marines game coming out in the Fall. Apparently, they were with Scott and worked with him for the game, all this can be found in the Game Informer.

You have to admit Alien 3 tried to take us out of video game marines, even if it failed.
But I am with you on Aliens -- going even further into obscene Giger, sexual depravity, implied and explicit, would have made Aliens truly superior to the original. I mean, imagine the marines finding many colonist still alive with the most gruesome experiments/mutations being conducted on them instead of just one big Queen. Imagine Newt seeing her father, mother or brother with some . . . oh, I'll let it rest there, don't want to get anyone turned on or off.
ReplyspacejockeyitchAlien Movies ForumLets watch Alien 3Apr 1, 2012
As bad as most people hate Alien3, it's still better than 95% of the garbage coming out of Hollywood. I own a copy, still watch it on the occasion. I still like watching the Alien explode, being covered in molten lead ( and surviving ) and then being doused by the sprinkler system. What a mess! Charles Dutton gave a great performance too. Not a timeless classic, but still part of the Alien Legacy.

using old technology is one thing. Using technology that old is akin to a moving company using Model Ts to deliver your furniture. No, no rational explanation. It is from 1979 for SJs sake, give it some slack!

ReplyGuestPrometheus ForumJames Cameron in talks to direct ‘Prometheus 2′Apr 1, 2012
Nice one. I wouldn't get too terribly upset unless there was mention of a Fincher-helmed Promtheus3, featuring a SJ ship crashing on a remote prison planet. Unfortunately, 3/4ths of the survivors from Prometheuses perish in the crash, leaving only a re-impregnated Shaw to lead the prisoners (all of whom for some reason are from the UK, except one) in a desperate struggle against a Prometheuses Xeno (or whatever) that somehow (no matter how unlikely) spawned from one of two facehuggers (or whatever) the first of whom nocked up Shaw, the other who survived the crash, and impregnated a local billy goat, setting up a fourth installment- Alien: Goatsurrection.
