goodkatPrometheus ForumIs derilect ship older technology?Apr 5, 2012
It's unlikely that the SJ's left clues for man to come and greet them. If this were the case it would certainly have been more than just a few cave paintings in walls but rather something more obvious and probably near indestructible.
Not to mention Shaw admits in how wrong she and the rest of the crew are in a few of the trailers (assuming she was referring to the cave paintings).
ReplyMark CawleyPrometheus ForumAlien Ship - questionApr 5, 2012
The urns......that i believe do turn into the eggs because they have been waiting for the correct DNA strands to turn them into eggs are actually super glued to the floor.
The ship may fit snuggly because perhaps the planet suffers from major hurricaines which would continually alter the landscape.
Actually.....if David can be infected and hes fully synthetic because its bio mechanoid technology within the ship........then its plausible that the urns can change to organic eggs.....which i was i said months ago. Im sure its no coincidence that the urns are in the same pattern as the egss in Alien.
ReplyFamishedPrometheus ForumThe SJs ship - inconsistencies.Apr 5, 2012
Yes, it's entirely possible that the ship you see in Alien had been there for a very, very long time.
Regardless, this has been addressed multiple times by the filmmakers, and discussed up and down on this board. Prometheus is not a direct prequel to Alien. Not sure why that is so hard for people to believe or understand. The connections you find will still have some ambiguous answers, but direct continuity implies a film that already has an end--and quite frankly, that's boring, and extremely limiting.
I'm glad that they didn't hamstring themselves by some crazy notion that they had to finish where a 1979 film starts. That said, I'm expecting a lot of fans that can't let go of the Alien film a bit, to come away from Prometheus disappointed because the wished and believed the film to be something it isn't.

No one knows much about the android biology it seems. I really would love an answer to this too, because they are my fave part of Alien movies.

Thanks for sharing Spartacus, but you know the derelict in the beginning is CG, right?
Anyway I thought the Alien makers II was equally as good, did you whatch that one?

I'm glad you brought this up because I saw this thread a little while back, and I didn't want to repost an old thread, so...its all your fault! Ha ha. I absolutely concur with you. I made myself go watch Wrath of the Titans tonight (my expectations were low, so it was tolerable - at least it was better than the first one) basically so I could see the Prometheus trailer in IMAX 3D. Now, I'm not in love with 3D. I do not make it a point to see a film because it's in 3D. In fact, I'll avoid it if I can. However, I will definitely see Prometheus in IMAX 3D. In my opinion, that is how 3D is suppose to look. Stunning. What I noticed was the depth of their faces and accompanying reflections in the space helmets. So cool. The hyper sleep scene was when I really noticed it the first time. And when that red mapping orb takes of down the tunnel, utterly cool. It really felt like you were there, to a certain degree of course. I can honestly say I feel like I did when The Empire Strikes Back was coming out, back when I was 9yrs old for God's sake. I didn't think I could want to see Prometheus more, and then this happens. Damn them! Count me in as a believer. They can have my $18 if I get 2+hrs of that.

During the time of Prometheus, Xenos were just wall art.
ReplyBiehn_BanditPrometheus ForumAliens : Colonial Marines' Looks really good!!Apr 5, 2012
I played the demo on PSN a few months back. Wasn't moved by it. Modern era, linear FPS with Aliens skin. And it was already done better in AvP2.
An Aliens game needs level design like Rainbow Six:Raven Shield or SWAT 4. Those games had tons of entry ways and doors, so you always had to watch your back and be very methodical going from room to room. You could be setting up to clear one room, and a guy might pop out of a door across the hallway and kill two of your squadmates (although in SWAT 4 you could use wedges to keep doors from being opened). Perfect environment for xenos to stalk and ambush you.
Anyway, I better stop before I launch one of my current generation video game rants.
ReplybirdmanPrometheus ForumOriginal inhabitants of earth!!Apr 5, 2012
Well it is obvious the xenos exist during the time of Prometheus, due to the "Mural" on the wall/ceiling. I think this is very plausible! Nice idea man!

I'm thinking the SJ chair and scope thing are actually what stays bearing on the intended travel location, while the ship itself spins conducting FTL travel. Just a theory.

ReplyTheEggPrometheus ForumAliens : Colonial Marines' Looks really good!!Apr 5, 2012
I agree with you goodkat. Also, it needs to be challenging. The Aliens are living, breathing entities that outnumber you, and you're never sure when the queen is sending either a few drones for recon, or summoning the warrior aliens for full frontal assault....I also hope it doesnt fall into QTE either. Because lets face it, if you're face to face with a Xeno, before your thought finishes to ready your pistol or rifle, you're already gonna have a set of jaws making your brain see the light of day. You know, do shit like recreate the suspense of when Newt and Ripley are sleeping, she opens her eyes and comes to the realization that there's a pair of facehuggers in there, and she's got no gun to attack it with, and the the colonial marines are seemingly light years away. But that's just me.

Glad it cheered you up Sparts, and thanks for the compliments. Hope you got some resin to fire up in that thing. Remember if you don't Cough and Cry...You can't get off and high. Anyone can make it, all you need is a glass blown bowl, a 2 liter bottle, a long thin bag, top of a yogurt container, a string, packing tape, exacto knife and a hot glue gun. This one took me about 1/2 an hour to make. I call it a Maxi Toke cause it kind of looks like a condom and a tampon but it's not for pussies! Like a vaporizer or a bong it expands the smoke you draw into it...maximizing it's full potential...saving money and your wallet from an economic collapse. Now that you have a baby you will have to visit the shed more often and put a lock on the door. Snorks... Engage!

This makes a lot of sense! 'Seeding the Earth with the beginnings of man'... I remember hearing from the crew that Scott was trying to use giant landscapes and sweeping visuals to illustrate how tiny mankind really is in the universe. We experience these films from the vantage point of mankind...but he's trying to show how potentially insignificant and trivial humans are in the scheme of things. If that scene does in fact take place at the dawn of Earth...the artifacts pointing us 'home' make a lot of sense. Either the star-map was ingrained in our DNA..or perhaps the Engineers have patiently been visiting various stages of human culture to leave the clues. By the time these films take place our innocent and naive race has finally figured out the meaning...only to be summoned to a larger story already unraveling in the universe.

@belladonna, you're right about that discrepancy in color. Not sure tadpole=big tail=blue guy, just yet. Then again, we've seen colors change in post-production - the proto-face-hugger went from being translucent to almost crude oil dark...

I made a point in the other thread, that if you were Ridley Scott and you had access to some of the best film designers, a 150 million budget, and H.R. Giger, are you going to settle for a big blue guy and some squid things as the monsters for your supposedly epic and harrowing film?
I'm expecting something major that we haven't seen yet.
