I found this concerning the names of one of the kaiju in the movie. The crocodile named Raiju has a very big historic context in Japanese culture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raij%C5%AB

I'm guessing from that article that Raiju has some sort of electrical attack. I want to know some the background for the other Kaiju. I can't seem to find anything on the name Otachi. Same goes for Scunner and Scissure.

I couldn't find anything on Otachi either and why it's named this. I know it's name is easy to find in the Katakana calligraphy. I think the book coming out next week or the movie will give more background on the kaiju and their names unless a new featurette is put online about them like was given for the Jaegers.

Yeah, hopefully they will explain the names in the art book. I'm not so sure the movie will explain the names of every Kaiju.
