The first trailer for Lana Wachowski's The Matrix: Resurrections (aka The Matrix 4) has officially been released today and fans of the iconic sci-fi franchise will be both pleased and slightly disappointed by its literal resurrection of certain characters, but neglect for others.
Without diving too deep into the trailer's clues right now, we'll save this for a later article, it appears The Matrix 4 will be dealing with a different version of the Matrix entirely - much like a parallel universe. Certain elements remain the same - Neo and Trinity and their undeniable bond, but characters like Morpheus have been recast, as well as the infamous Agent Smith. These slight changes suggest a different fork in the course of history for this iteration of the Matrix. Watch the first trailer below and let us know your first impressions of it in the comments below! We'll be diving deep into what the trailer unveils in a breakdown article soon!
The Matrix: Resurrections will arrive in theaters and on HBO Max December 22nd, 2021!
