An extended multi year deal between Dreamworks Animation and the widely popular video on demand service Netfilx will be bringing a reboot of Voltron back to our screens.
Voltron (or LionForce Voltron: Defenders of the far universe), originally aired between September 1984 to November 1985. Adapted from the Japanese anime Beast King GoLion the first season of the show featured a group of young astronauts, each of which piloted their own robot lion, which when combined would form Voltron. The second season (or Vehicle Voltron: Defenders of the near universe), which was adapted from the Japanese Armoured Fleet Dairugger XV, itself completely unrelated to the first seasons source material Beast King GoLion, saw young astronauts piloting more traditional, vehicular robots. In 2011 the show was rebooted, aired on Nicktoons and called Voltron Force (pictured below).

Voltron has proved so popular despite its mixed up orgins that a plethora of toys, comics and videogames have been released since the mid eighties.
It has been reported that the newly imagined Voltron series will be accompanied by Trollhunters, an all new series devised by Mexican horror, comic book and science fiction director Guillermo del Toro, and will feature "a new, fantastical world wrapped around two best friends who make a startling discovery beneath their hometown.”
