It appears Warner Brothers are looking to continue The Matrix trilogy on, at least according to Chad Stahelski, director of the Keanu Reeves led John Wick 3! Stahelski recently sat down with Yahoo! Movies UK to discuss the latest John Wick installment and of course, the inevitable discussion about any prospective new Matrix screen time for Keanu Reeves came up. Stahelski dropped a fairly big bombshell by saying:

I’m super happy that the Wachowskis are not just doing a Matrix, but they’re expanding what we all loved, and if it’s anywhere near the level of what they’ve already done, it wouldn’t take more than a call to go, ‘Hey, we want you to be a stunt guy’ and I would probably go and get hit by a car.
As exciting as that statement initially came across, since the interview went live, one of Stahelski's representatives got in touch with SlashFilm, to which they clarified:
A representative for Chad Stahelski has reached out and let us know that the initial report was inaccurate. His comments were in response to a hypothetical scenario were the Wachowskis would be involved and he did not confirm them being attached to the new film...
So, is The Matrix 4 actually on Warner Brothers' radar? Or does the clarification merely exclude the Wachowski's involvement? At the moment, we're unsure.
What we do know for certain however is that John Wick 3 just surpassed Avengers: Endgame at the global box office this weekend, proving once again how commanding Keanu Reeves can be and how under-utilized the actor has been as of late outside the immensely popular John Wick series. Now is the perfect time to re-introduce the iconic, cult classic actor in the role which ultimately put him on the Hollywood A-list map. We need more Keanu and The Matrix 4 would be the perfect next step!
What do you think of the Wachowskis potentially coming back to The Matrix? Would you be as thrilled about another Matrix movie even if the Wachowskis were not involved? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section!
