Scified has received a few updates recently to further improve our evolving UI and network. While layout updates remain the same from late last year, visitors will notice a few subtle changes. The site now sports an overall darker midnight blue tone, with contrast between background and foreground colors now slightly more readable and easier on the eyes. Mobile experience remains at the top of our priority list - and users who favor browsing on their phones will surely appreciate the lightening quick and sleek new design.

Improved navigation & simplified index pages.
We offer a lot of content - so organisation is key. We've simplified the navigation both via the menu tray (top left stacked lines icon) and the main menu on top of each page. We've also added URL slugs /talk and /comments (or /bits on Scified alone) to the end of our domains which take you right to a page containing all the latest forum discussions and all recent replies to news, forum topics and images. These pages are also accessible via the "New Topics/Discussions" and "New Replies" tabs.

We're bringing it back, old school.
Scified has always set out to preserve the feel of legacy fansites, while offering a fresh, modern interactive experience for its users. We are continuing this pursuit more heavily with more branded, fan communities. We're scrapping our generalised domain names and giving each individual community its own, in-universe name. So far, we have officially launched CloverfieldSignal.com and YautjaClan.com - two communities dedicated to the Cloverfield cinematic universe and the Predator movie franchise respectively.

We've also done away with the wide image banners on top of our pages - instead opting for themed banners on the navigation menu tray instead. This frees up a lot of screen real estate - especially for mobile users and also contributes to faster load times. Each site still retains its own uniquely themed logos and graphics, along with subtle differences hidden throughout. However, overall UI still shares our proprietary interface, so using all sites across our network feels familiar.
As we continue to improve, content curation will be ramping up as well as we expand our Lore sections - offering fans with in-depth analysis and deep understandings of the franchises they care about most. Our Lore section is NOT a Wiki and is not contributed to by community members.
As always, we encourage feedback if you have any! We hope you continue to enjoy Scified and its growing network of sci-fi communities!
