Kicking off our first re-cap, is the massive announcement of the first three casting decisions made for Independence Day 2! That's right, the sequel to the popular sci-fi thriller Independence Day is a GO and helmed once again by Roland Emmerich, this film will see the return of one of its iconic leads, Jeff Goldblum!
Adding to the roster is hollywood heavyweight Chris Hemsworth and Jessie Usher. These are the first three cast to be announced officially for the Independence Day sequel and will likely play most of the main roles in the film.
Next up we have another, equally exciting announcement by Chappie director Neill Blomkamp, who revealed via Instagram that his hypothetical Alien 5 movie, was picked up and immediately green-lit by 20th Century Fox. Production for Blomkamp's Alien film is expected to begin anytime this week, following a recent interview the filmmaker gave while attending the red carpet premiere for Chappie.
Blomkamp's Alien movie will be a direct sequel to James Cameron's Aliens and will see Ridley Scott return once again to the Alien franchise, to executive produce the new project. It is also worth noting that the announcement of Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5 has no bearing on Ridley Scott's Prometheus 2, which is will in development.
Last week saw the unfortunate leak of the Terminator Genisys movie script, revealing many of the film's key plot points. The leak was met with a mixture of opinions from fans and average moviegoers. Unfortunately we were asked to remove the leaked information, however our opinions of the leaked material remain for those willing to have a gander.
From what we know, the first half of Terminator Genisys will be quite enjoyable, however nearing the mid-way point it seems as thought the film may detour slightly and take us on a path we may not have wanted to venture down. Arnold Schwarzenegger has also reportedly signed up to star in two follow-up sequels to Genisys, but of course that depends on how well Genisys does at the box office. We're hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.
Jurassic World saw some updates as well last week, with a new viral video, promoting the film's fictional corporate foundation - the "Masrani Global" corporation as well as one outlining the interesting process by which InGen creates Dinosaurs for the new park!
This second video gives you a tour of the "Creation Lab". In addition to the new viral videos, new Dinosaurs were revealed on the official Jurassic World website and new Jurassic World movie stills were also revealed via the latest issue of Empire Magazine, for which scans can be seen here!
Of course we can't forget about the epic new Avengers: Age of Ultron TV spot which was released as well, which was followed by an even more epic full length trailer, which you can see here!
Check back next week for another re-cap of the most popular Sci-Fi movie and gaming news!
