When Sylvester Stallone came up with the idea of the Expendables - bringing past and present action movie stars together in a free-for-all, high octane, explosive fun action movie ensemble, there was probably those in Hollywood, and among the fans, that rolled their eyes. Why release an action movie full of has beens? Some people just miss the point - The Expendables is about being loud, proud and obnoxious, The expendables is to movies what Gears of War is to video games, testosterone filled, fun and explosive action - the wise crack one liners, the in jokes, Terry Crews smiling while shooting a minigun, Jet Li's "I win" jokes. The Expendables is all about entertainment, violent, butch entertainment, but entertainment nonetheless.
