Everyone's favorite Kaiju groupie Charlie Day has confirmed he will in fact reprise his role as Dr. Newton in the Pacific Rim sequel, Pacific Rim: Uprising! Technically, we already knew that actors Charlie Day and Burn Gorman would be returning back in 2014, but this reaffirmation is welcomed.
During an interview with Collider, Charlie touches on a few points concerning Pacific Rim: Uprising, but as expected, could not divulge too many details. He did however express great faith in director Steven DeKnight's abilities, as well as the direction he's taking the sequel.
From his comments overall, it seems as though the story will heavily focus on the new, young cast - lead by John Boyega and Scott Eastwood, with He and Burn Gorman acting as the tethering to the original film.
Rinko Kikuchi is also expected to reprise her role as Maco Mori, but that has yet to be officially confirmed.
