Pending the release of his next movie, an adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel Live By Night, academy award winning Hollywood director, writer and actor Ben Affleck will likely begin preproduction on DC and Warner Bros reimagining of the Dark Knight legend as part of the studios planned shared Universe. Deadline have confirmed that, together with co-writer Geoff Johns, DC's Chief Creative Officer, Affleck will co-write, star and direct The Batman.
Johns has worked on TV serials Smallville, Arrow, The Flash and the forthcoming Supergirl, and it is reported that the writing duo are working well together, with an initial script, that is believed to be set after the events of the planned Justice League movie, expected to be penned by the end of the summer.
