Martin Gero is teaming up with Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich to bring a new Stargate TV series to Prime Video! Amazon has officially ordered a new series of the iconic science fiction franchise and Martin Gero will be acting as showrunner, writer and executive producer! Additional executive producers will include Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell from Safehouse Pictures. Specific plot details remain under wraps.
Speaking to Variety, Gero expressed his excitement for the new Stargate project:
Twenty years ago, my first real job in television was as a Story Editor on ‘Stargate: Atlantis. I spent five years at the franchise working across all three series, ‘Stargate’ taught me everything about making television — it’s written into my DNA. I’m beyond thrilled that Amazon MGM Studios has entrusted me with guiding this incredible franchise into its next phase. For those who’ve kept the gate active through conventions, rewatches, and unwavering faith — this one’s for you. And for those that are new to our world — I promise you’re in for something extraordinary.
Stargate began as a film back in 1994, directed by Roland Emmerich and went on to spawn the popular TV series, SG-1 which ran for 10 seasons. The spin-off series Stargate Atlantis ran for an additional 5 seasons.
When will the new Stargate series air?
A specific release date window has not yet been announced for the new Stargate series, but we suspect a late 2027 window is likely. As new details come through, we will keep you updated!
