After almost a year of no news we have finally learnt, courtesy of THR, that screenwriters Nicolas Wright and James A Woods must have impressed director Roland Emmerichwith their Independence Day 2 screenplay, as the director has approached them to write the planned reboot of 1994's Stargate, which is to be the first in a trilogy.
Which Jack & Daniel do you prefer? Kurt Russell and James Spader on the left or Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks on the right?
Lets hope that the best of the expanded universe seen in the various TV spin off's make it into the new trilogy - The System Lords, the Asguardians, The Replicators, The Wraiths and The Ancients, and lets hope the less savoury aspects from the TV shows stay away from the big screen return of Stargate such as the Ori and the Destiny.
