For those who have not yet seen Independence Day: Resurgence, the following article does contain spoilers about the film's plot as well as its Alien race(s). If you've already seen Resurgence and/or don't mind spoilers, then this article will go over what new information we learned about the hostile Alien race since the war of 1996.

They do in fact have a Queen.

Known as the "Harvester Queen", these monstrously large Aliens act as the commanding force behind the invading ET's. Residing in a private and heavily guarded center pod to the Mother Ship, they have the ability to control nearby Alien craft and are incredibly hard to kill.

The Queen may be large, but like her smaller soldiers, she is vulnerable outside of her ship and biomechanical suit. The suits the Queen wear are obviously much larger than those worn by soldiers and emits its own protective blast shield. However, with enough bombardment (by native Alien projectile it seems) the shield can be disabled.

There are more than one Queen and many more Harvester ships.

We learned that the Harvester ship as well as its Queen featured in Independence Day: Resurgence was not the only one in the universe. Many Harvester ships exist, each commanded by a respective Queen. When one Queen is killed in action, her ship and fleet are called back to the horde of other Harvesters for a new Queen to take over.

Harvester Ships provide entire ecosystems and use planet cores for fuel.

Spanning 1,000 miles in diameter, Harvester ships are gigantic mother ships. Their purpose is to latch to a planet, drill deep into the planet's core and extract its contents for means of refueling as well as advancing technology.

Inside these massive ships exist vast ecosystems and even indigenous plant life as well as (what we assumed to be) water. Given that the ID Aliens breathe oxygen the same as we do, it would make a lot of sense for them to grow plants and preserve water.

The enemy of our enemy is our friend.

We also learned that there exists an entire resistance made up of various Alien species from across the known universe, who suffered great loss after the ID ET's harvested their own planets. Prior to the Harvester's arrival to Earth, one such robotic entity attempts to communicate with Earth and warn them of the impending attack. Unfortunately ESD shoots down the friendly AI before the warning can be passed.

Later on, we learn that this AI "Orb" holds vital information concerning the whereabouts of this intergalactic resistance as well as blue prints of powerful weapons, designed to kill ID Aliens.

Humans possess the ability to share consciousness with the ID Aliens.

As shown by Dr. Okun's experiences as well as former President Whitmore's, a neural connection with ID ET's can be made through physical contact with the Alien, or by suffering its own telepathic assaults. Some encounters result in lengthy comas, while others can pass briefly, leaving the host with a permanent connection to the "Hive Mind".

This Hive Mind is activated, it seems, when in close enough proximity to a large Alien entity, or if a telepathic pulse is being dispersed throughout the collective horde. In some cases these telepathic connections can spawn visions within the Host's mind. Alien messages and specific dialogue can also be broadcasted and intercepted through this connection. No evidence currently exists which suggests the telepathic transferable between Humans.

Beyond this, we know that there currently exists an intergalactic war between many different Alien species and the ID Aliens. Humanity has been chosen to carry the mantle and lead a massive resistance against the locust-like ET's and Roland Emmerich has already expressed plans to explore this transcendent plot shift in Independence Day 3, if given the chance to direct a third sequel. If so, the tables will have turned and the ID Aliens will become the hunted species. But, surely there are more ferocious and devastating challenges waiting for Humanity, if they take on the role of rebellious intergalactic crusaders. Perhaps the Alien Queen is not the biggest boss the ID Aliens have at their disposal. Either way, if this series continues, we can expect this list of known ID ET facts to grow.

I'm interested in knowing how or if the Colony MotherShips in Independence Day link to the Harvesters in the same way the City Destroyers linked to the underbelly of the Colony MotherShip from Independence Day? And if-so, where abouts upon the Harvester do they attach/link themselves? Do they perform the same "underbelly maneuver" as the City Destroyers do/did?

The problem with the ID aliens are that they have already spreaded across millions of universes. The Orb says that it knows a planet where there are refuges of other fallen worlds. But how the heck can a planet population take on another one which has spreaded all over millions of galaxies! If the Orb's technology is that advanced as it claims the resistance may have a HUGE advantage. But they will need a lot of firepower to take on the ID aliens.
