If Ridley Scott has his way, we won't want to eat anything after this movie.

StarbeastPrometheus Forumdisappointed with the Space Jockey...
The problem started from the point when some "genius" decided, 'hey, why don't we make the space jocks the progenitors of humanity? Won't that be cool!' From that point onwards, the enigma that was the space jocks was lost. Moreover, it gave credence to (if not dictated) the notion of an anthropomorphic creature beneath the "suit". Linking humans and space jocks 'de-alienizes' Alien. This film no longer gets to be called a prequel for free. No it's a spin-off at best, but if it proves itself worthy, then it earns itself the privilege to be called a prequel.

Well she hadnt had sex for nearly 100 years.....perhaps she was desparate lol. I keep watching all the Alien movies anyway. I probably watch all 4 once a year. But then i watch all the AVPs aswell. Yeah i know the AVPs tell there own stories......but at the end of the day so is Prometheus isnt it...... I mean, how many of us hoped that the Space Jockey was a real creature rather than what appears to be just a suit........im still hoping that they turn into a real elephantine creature but it now looks unlikely. Anyway....i hope you got an answer lol. I love ALL the Alien universe, because they have the Alien in them.

I refuse. Saw it in the theatre, almost walked out. I can clearly remember my dissapointment. Never looked back at that flick, and don't mention nr. 4.

It would be short movie if everyone used common sense... One look inside the structure would send me running home, never to return.

Theres only 8 days between May 30th and June 8th. In fact its about time we in Blightey got to see a movie before our friends across the pond. We had to wait a whole month before The THING was released here. Anyway. I think many people will stop posting once the movie has been viewed. OR Everyone who see the movie will post "SEE....I TOLD YOU THIS WOULD HAPPEN I WAS RIGHT.....I KNEW IT.....I KNEW THERE WERE XENOS IN IT" Etc,etc lol. Might be best to stay away during the European releases lol.....theyll be too many spoilers.

I see the logic in this conversation but a couple of things-1)The blue guy is only seen in it's entirety in the chair room.2)If he molds into the chair, then why are the suits hanging in a hallway?3)the new chair has a control panel under the right hand of the "new" space jockey, whereas the original chair does not have it.

To me the head/helmet/skull/ always resembled a pilot's helmet with an oxygen mask (trunk=oxygen mask (or whatever it is it is breathing)). Just my 2 cents.

Oh, and don't forget the best of all - they leave their urns with all their playthings out. It's an open invitation for the humans to open them up and start playing around with what's inside. Yes, I would agree that the humans are the dumdums in this movie.

Mark CawleyPrometheus ForumMurals like Alien warning?
I agree with everyone as usual lol. But the simplest idea is always the best......just dont leave pics on cave walls.....that way we would be none the wiser would we? And just to make sure that we couldnt find them......they go leaving signals all over the place aswell....... And just to make doubly sure we dont accidentley stumble across any signals lets leave a whacking great dumdum head.....with a human face on it telling us that yes weve arrived. I wonder who the real dumbasses were lol. Us or the aliens lol.

Could be anything, but either a small worm or the Weyland mark makes sense ('small beginnings'). Not a drop of android blood.

Ok, there's a warning sign. There's an android standing next to you saying: Please tell me you can read this.... And afterwords it goes like: I was so wrong... Yep, they are stupid and do forbidden things.

Also,in the first trailer when Vickers and Shaw were running from the falling derelict,I don't want to say Vickers is running like a girl, but compared to Shaw, she is running very much like a female. An A.I. would be more athletic, just for the mere fact that it has an important agenda.

@Pro 2 excellent observations C made me laugh out loud lol a friggin Mars Bar, that would look so damn funny! D - I agree with the triple explosion and made me think the other day. I think the problem is the first blast is so large that any consecutive explosions would be null and void, whatever mechanism that triggers the latter explosions would be destroyed...saying that it is a great artistic effect, and I am a firm believer of abandoning physics if it gives a more dramatic feel

I am not fully against the suit idea, but these are my issues: 1. the breathing apparatus, the SJ seems to breathe fine in the surrounding room, so what purpose does this serve once in the suit? they are in the same room? yes? (ash voice) 2.like someone said earlier the original SJ is a skeleton with teeth etc...we can now 1. either ignore Alien and treat this separately or 2. accept it is a direct prequel but then the teeth and very biological look of the fossilised skeleton will need explaining you can't say it is a direct tie-in to Alien and then have a HUGE discrepancy between the two space jockeys/suits in both movies... I am not complaining btw this is all just friendly debate...If I ever directed a movie I think I would sit down for 3 months on a forum with a sci-fi community like this, it would be a great method of determining all the plot holes and closing them up, coming up with new ideas etc...I think directors sometimes are a bit 'aloof'

this was discussed before and one conclusion was (@bella) if it is a warning, you'd think there would be something we'd understand as a warning - like you said: a BIG RED X, or a warning from God in addition to a snake on the tree. i'm always surprised at how much people expect a Prometheus-story like plot - theft and punishment. But, you gotta remember: Weyland names the ship Prometheus...so why name your craft after the legend? You think he wants his theft to result in his kidney being eaten over and over? Do you get what I mean? The name is spelled out IN the movie, it's not just the title of it. Hence, the characters would be aware of its implications, no? Or would they be like: how funny, i wonder why this ship is called prometheus, oh lets steal those urns anyway, see if we get our livers eaten!

For starters, maybe they wanted us to really work on getting the messages and possibly "hide" it from ourselves so we won't misconstrue it with perhaps religion or other interpretations such as pagan cults. That would make sense because if we thought it was god as we understand him,we won't journey to look for him, knowing that we will meet the maker when our mortal existense expires. Not only that, but how many cultures and/or religions have we humans destroyed as punishment or greed.Example-the Mayans and Aztecs and Sumerians. We would abolished those years ago if they were in the open. And secondly, they would have had to hide them in places that were protected from natural erosion for 40000-50000 years. So if something happened like this it would have played like the story line.

This is definately one of those movies that I wish was getting a worldwide release on the same date. But thankfully I'm in the U.K. and will be able to catch this on opening day without anyone being able to spoil all the storyline/plot secrets of it beforehand! @ Spacey Man and others not Europe-based - Do what I would have done if it had been released in U.S.A. first...DON'T look at ANY sites online after it's initial release where there's the slightest chance of everything being *spoiled* for you...including this one!

You've got the right idea, and it makes sense. We've all seen the 'worms' that David was looking at. Either the 'worms' infect and transform the host and/or allow the host to infect others - then there's the facehugger thing that was on/inside Shaw to ponder about too.

It doesn't make any sense, the title you see on a Tomatoes film entry is the actual title of the film - never heard anything about 'Prometheus: An IMAX 3D Experience'. It's probably an entry from some rt user.

Kane77Prometheus ForumThe fails of the ancient astronaut theory
@craigamore Science constantly recognizes an impossible level of detail in the natural world and especially in biology that makes it difficult to argue natural evolution as the sole source of life. DNA reads like a ridiculously expasive novel, billions of lines long, detailing every instruction of biological function and life. Sure, that's what I personally believe, but it is what it is. right, the more detailed and specified single data I get from selected methods , the more is lost from the reasons/ picture whats behind. That of course is a natural result from the process and its no accident that technically advanced science is looking out of the box already. the big clues from their own theories: what was before the big bang, why are there phenomenons like brown dwarfts that dont fit into modern theories etc

@DallasDallas And yet Plato in particular would be an enormous influence on the the development of Judeo-Christian cosmology that is still in many ways current. Just how literal we are to take Plato is a question some scoff at but I think is still unanswered. Ultimately, when Plato gets to his prime mover without using very figurative language, he struggles as much as we do today. And Aristotle just would not commit to defining in any way. Much like many agnostics today. Others, too like early nature philosophists like Epikur or Demokrit who were looking for natural explanations of reality...later Giordano Bruno...Kant-Laplace-theory of course, for a non-god-influenced cosmology, other than Newton. Ah, there is a rub. What does one take literally? The Buddha walking on a the stars? The Christ physically getting out his tomb and literally flying into the sky? And that is the most personal. Even if science were to prove their absolute physical existence as men, their acts are outside of science. I think that particular forces of Christ can be explained. Healing, mind/ chakra reading or clearvoyance are possible for a very high developed person, at that times and today.. But the issue is asking scientists as scientists to believe in something that cannot be shown scientifically in the modern sense except using the syllogistic prime mover method of Aristotle. But in his day Science and Theology and Philosophy were not distinct. What folks have to understand is that they have been distinct for nearly a millennium. Science is best at showing what cannot be, leaving what most likely is easier to find. So when science proves that man cannot have existed alongside dinosaurs and (in this case but I am not singling any one group out), you have a park in Kansas that tries to unite Science and Biblical thought by showing Adam and Eve hanging with a Brontosaurus, one has to wonder if they will ever get the terms of the dialogue. right, there is no way possible to step behind proven methods. Lets name it, even the most materialistic thinking scientist will say, That we dont know, BUT THAT we can define. The dino tracks yeah, I think that religious creationists are doing serious harm to people. Darwin . . . at one point almost went into the priesthood! But I do hate to be the bad guy: Darwin ended his life as a true agnostic. He in fact did not want to have religious burial as he felt he couldn't in good conscience, but was convinced by his wife, who remained a believer, to keep his membership with his church. Even Einstein died still believing in some kind of impersonal, deist-like god. Darwin was clear he just didn't know and as a scientist would make no comment. Sorry but that is fact on Charles. In the end my God is my God. What my opinion is of him is of little consequence to you or the world. Except in action I take. We could take a page for Kierkegaard and Bonhoeffer on that! Right, there is only one way, and that is a personal god and my actions to other people. Thats why christian social theory is important, Karma. There simply is no private science or even arts.
