I think it mainly depends on how popular VR is and how many will buy he game compared to Alien Isolation, which sold a little over 2 million copies after a year of its release but ultimately failed to meet SEGA's expectations.
The concept is great, especially for horror games but limiting it to VR will only appeal to a lesser segment of the market, like Half-Life: Alyx that was praised for its innovations but wasn't a massive financial success (2.7 million copies) compared to the previous installments (9.5 and 9.3 million copies for H-L1 and 2 respectively) in the series, whether it was anticipated or not. While 2.7 million copies sounds like a lot, publishers in general often expect a lot more than the cost for development. Not that I think it affects Valve much because they seem to run their own race, but other companies might consider developing VR games on a smaller budget, knowing they can't compete with the broad market.
That aside, it can't be ruled out that Alien Rogue Incursion can potentially be a success big enough for people to buy more VR sets. If it's marketed well enough and praised by critics and fans. However, if Alien Isolation sold more than 2 million copies, imagine the sales numbers of it was a VR-only game. The VR market might look different today but I doubt it'll dethrone Isolation in sales and popularity. It could however become a cult classic and that's a fine compliment in it's own. What I definitely think will boost the interest for Alien games as a whole is more Alien films and TV-series. Here's hoping that Romulus and Prodigy will assist with that, granted that they'll reignite and/or create interest among not only Alien fans but also the sci-fi and horror community for different.
That's a good guess!
If I had to guess, the Neverland reference in Peter Pan was a place where you never grow up, since the Prodigy Corporation deals with hybridizing Human consciousness with AI / Synthetics, perhaps it's a nod to "immortality" or defying the effects of aging by implanting one's consciousness into a robotic body which will never get old and die - as David eloquently put to Peter Weyland in Covenant.
06/10/2024:
7th weekend in Japan and Godzilla x Kong is all but dead outside the top 10. It contributed very little to the Worldwide achievement of becoming the highest-grossing Monsterverse film in the world. (Deadline) The last week saw it jump from 1.67 Billion Yen to 1.69 Billion Yen ($11.03 Million). Its attendance went from 1.14 Million last week to just under 1.16 Million. (Movie Web Media Editor-and-Chief) It has barely passed Attack on Titan: Part II in gross but lags too far behind it, and Godzilla vs. Kong's attendance to surpass them. Tokyo SOS's attendance is in range, but it's unlikely it will pass the 2003 flop at this point.
Charts updated.
I'm certain Alien: Prodigy is the title. Neverland definitely sounds more like an episode title. I wonder what it's referring to? The island of imaginary things from Peter Pan's adventures? Pretty sure it's not Michael Jackson's ranch...
They better not be the "derelict" xenomorphs.
Yeah I've been meaning to find a mod that corrects the Sevastopol xeno's legs
Loving the new xeno design so far! Should it have a different nickname though? “Scar” is the same as the predator from AVP. Also when do you guys think NECA will reveal the Alien Romulus figures? I know I’m preordering those asap!
Yes that has to be it! The picture with the personnel in hazmat suits seem to be moving what could very much be that same rock cut open judging by its shape even though it's a dark shot. Super hyped!!
As for the cylinder, it does indeed seem to include vials of black goo. I can't see any other explanation. Nice find!

The blue mist reminds me of the same effect in Alien. Now what was the purpose of it in the derelict? To regulate temperature for the eggs? It did react to Kane who was biological, and so is the black goo. Andy on the other hand, is an android. Maybe he notices a reaction by chance or maybe he attempts to trigger/test something on purpose. Is Andy trustworthy btw? He seems nice in the trailers but you never know with these androids.
Seems like the company finds the meteor, cuts it open, and finds the poor Big Chap inside.

Also in this shot, Andy looks like he's holding samples of the black goo that he supposedly found in the Romulus lab. I wonder why.

@Xenotaris Going by the "leaks", these xenomorphs aren't the original ones from the Derelict. They were created by the Weyland-Yutani scientists experimenting on Big Chap, so they might have other characteristics that separate them from the classic Xenos.
Xenomorph Drones from Alien: Isolation also had digitigrade legs.
Correct, I watched Mike's trailer breakdown you linked. A good video mentioning interesting stuff without spoiling anything.
So the facehuggers in the incubation room aren't hatched from eggs but from pods and we'll find out how that's explained in the movie. Maybe it's related to the black pathogen we've seen in Prometheus and Alien Covenant, although David is not present at all apparently. Fine by me. Anyway, the acid blood floating in Zero G looked terrifying and the last scene is especially interesting where the Xeno doesn't immediately attack Rain. Is she carrying a chest burster perhaps? And the shot of the whole station falling into orbit reminds me of Sevastopol's same or similar fate in Alien Isolation. Love it!
According to Mike from Mike's Monsters, who has seen the film's rough cut, Big Chap isn't shown in the trailer and that's a different Xenomorph awakening from its pod, followed by its bent fingers snapping. Mike also added it's a new moment for the franchise, seeing what comes after the Chestburster.
I think it's better not to show Big Chap in any trailers, if the leaks are true.
Not to double post but due to not being able to edit my comment which I constantly keep forgetting.
The unhinging snake-like jaws and the digitigrade feet just removes the hybrid angle of the xenomorphs. The drone/warriors are supposed to take on traits from their host correct? Then how come it has snake jaws and bird legs? This is the main reason why I disliked the designs in Alien Resurrection and AVP! because the human traits are absent.
Not a fan of the unhinging jaws of either Resurrection's nor AVP's xenomorph. Simply because the original xenos from Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3 lacked them.

This could be the old Big Chap waking up and emerging from its frozen cocoon. It also sort of looks like an ovomorph but that process would imply development and incubation of a facehugger right? Unless we see a different approach to the cycle in Romulus.
"I want what's coming to me...this station...and everything in it"

I guess that "rock" caught by the ship is the Big Chap in a fossilized state?
According to Mike from Mike's Monsters, this is the "disgusting scene" Isabela Merced talked about, that other actors couldn't watch.

Brightness up, the scar on the dome is much more visible, as reported months ago.

This Xeno will go by the nickname "Scar".
looks good so far , just hope more teasers are on the way ,
cant wait till the wife calls me to the living room ,, when it starts to air the trailer closer to the release date , her comment will be " Did you know one of your Alien movies is coming up at the theaters soon "
lol
Yes, digitigrade legs.

I'll look into it and talk to Chris. TY for the suggestion, Nicozilla!
I hope BigDave is watching this.
Awesome trailer.
Where are the facehuggers coming from?
Are they growing them? Hard to tell.
2 more months!

W-Y company finds the big chap?

I like the Xenomorph design so far.

the screaming part is amazing, very stand out and pay tribute to Sir Ripley classic.
The acting looks good from what are seen from the trailer. I am now double excited.
Epic. The visuals and practical effects are amazing.
The xenomorph design seems to be a mix of 1979 and the resurrection Xenos, from what is shown. I can't wait for this movie.

New trailer is AMAZING!
Good stuff! The atmosphere and the visuals look phenomenal, not to mention the alien! Also nice to see LV-426 and what seems to be Hadley's Hope (reactor tower) again after all these years.
I got the impression that the scavengers didn't want to remain on the colony ("this is our ticket out of here") thus decided to leave and head towards the renaissance station with things have gone really bad and so begins their nightmare. I just love this premise! Hopefully the film delivers, and something tells me it will. Just a hunch ;)
A little more than two months left now!
this poster is much better and unique
now I am ready
06/03/2024:
This isn't exactly an update, but for the sake of accuracy the exact numbers for Godzilla Minus One's theatrical take have been released:
Final Gross: 7,596,609,380 Yen
Final Attendance: 5,039,831
Only one chart needed to be updated, via these numbers, for rounding purposes. Once again, congratulations to Godzilla Minus One's historic run.
06/03/2024:
For its 6th weekend in Japan, Godzilla x Kong had no rebound into the top 10. It accumulated 30 Million Yen over the last 7 days for a total of 1.67 Billion Yen ($10.9 Million). Its attendance has climbed from 1.11 Million last week to 1.14 Million. (Movie Web Media Editor-and-Chief) It still lags behind Godzilla: Tokyo SOS's 1.20 Million and Godzilla vs. Kong's 1.27 Million.
Due to how little movement there's been, it remains the 7th least-attended Godzilla film. (4th least-attended live action.)
Included is how each of the recent live action Godzilla movies did by their 6th weekend in Japan.
6th Weekend Comparisons:
Shin Godzilla:
6.02 Billion Yen / $58.4 Million / 3.74M Attendance
Godzilla Minus One:
4.15 Billion Yen / $28.5 Million / 2.70M Attendance
Shin Ultraman:
3.84 Billion Yen / $29.7 Million / 2.57M Attendance
Godzilla 2014:
2.99 Billion Yen / $29.3 Million / 2.09M Attendance
Godzilla: King of the Monsters:
2.70 Billion Yen / $25.6 Million / 1.91M Attendance
Godzilla vs. Kong:
1.81 Billion Yen / $16.5 Million / 1.20M Attendance
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire:
1.67 Billion Yen / $10.9 Million / 1.14M Attendance
LOVE this poster! Simple yet perfect!
Well finally! It's about time considering the movie drops in about 1,5 months from now. Not that I'm impatient or anything...

I am so excited =D
Awesome work, thank you for sharing.
