how could you guys not loving the show. The chasing and killing scenes are all incredible lol
I do enjoy the Xenomorph kill shots, the attack on the soldier outside the costume party was my personal favorite so far. The attacks are vicious as they should be and I applaud the show for keeping the Xenomorph aggressive and bloodthirsty. It certainly balances things out and keeps me eager to watch the next episode.

I’m in the process of fixing this, the function had been removed for members way back when we had a few bad apples go and edit all their existing posts with random garbage. I’ll allow the edits back shortly with better safeguards. Hoping to have it finished very soon!
Agree somewhat. I couldn't find it but I recall a topic here years back where I mentioned Tool is a good match for Alien but hearing them in the show is different than saying they have the same vibe
Perhaps if the timing was chosen differently it would work better. Like make it part of a montage for marines gearing up or some assembling shot. It comes off corny to me to have a rock-laced intro to a climactic duel with a Xenomorph and a stand-alone child-brained robot wielding a paper cutter as a sword. I’m all for taking risks and trying something new but I feel like they could’ve matched the music selection better with the specific scene it’s used for. Maybe it’s a Television thing, who knows 😂 or maybe I’m just getting older and more opinionated. Lol

how could you guys not loving the show. The chasing and killing scenes are all incredible lol. They are indeed, and one of the few things I like about the series, especially the xenomorph. It's ultra vicious, lightning quick and the VFX crew and sound designer/s did a great job with the animations and heavy thumping sound effects respectively.
Because, that's not what I really liked about Alien, I liked the slow burn and psychological horror in Alien, not over the top gore. Also, I much prefer the Androids over the Xeno, I have for sometime. My biggest issue with this series is the two storylines don't seem to mesh well, imo. Feels like there's here's a disconnect. This amount of killing reminds me more of AVP, which isn't my fave, though I am looking forward to Predator: Badlands (because of the Androids, lol). Ironically, I enjoyed Alien Romulus more than this series so far (and before you say it, yes I know AR is violent).
Anyways, I don't hate the show, I have only seen 2 episodes, but right now the series is only a 6 or 7 out of 10 for me.
Wait the Engineers wanted to prevent A.I. technology from developing on Earth back during the Iron Age? That doesn't make a lick of sense.
Not necessarily by OUR timeline, we have no idea if Mankind has cyclically repeated the same destiny over and over and over again. Civilizations have risen and fallen many times over. Who’s to say the Engineers already wiped out the last few batches of Humans once they reached that critical point in development where they could develop an A.I. to overtake the other biological dependent species in the universe. But cause of the outbreak on LV-223, the Engineers “slept through their alarm” and missed their mission to destroy this batch of Humanity. It could make sense!
Potentially old tech arguments, but the Cyborg seems quite advanced compared to the David 8 model developed 35 years AFTER the Maginot left Earth. You would think David would have been an advanced Cyborg as well if it was the “tech of the day”. This is why continuity matters and why I’m sad continuity doesn’t seem to matter for this series. 😔
I wonder how it will pan out… the teaser suggests the egg is opening which means Facehugger soon to follow, but Boy is a pivotal character so I have a feeling Kirsh steps in to prevent him from becoming the next host.

Not a fan of the practical version though but that could've been fixed with shadows, more gloss and slime I guess. It reminds me of the runner from A3.
The eye absorbing jellyfish thing was creepy but it's only there for quick shock value like those grasshopper things, unless they flesh them out with some backstory expeditions.

Why is Peter Pan all over the place in this series? We already know the boy genius will never grow up. Wendy was very, very special according to him. The youth must have amazing strength now or they would not have been sent to the ship.
My computer is acting up and it was supposed to read just Alien, not rnAlien. Tried to edit but the program said I don't have permission????
I really hope that if there is an alien 5, it would ignore the events of alien 3 and resurrection
I hated the movie where Ripley was a thing and fell into a womb. It was yucky as hell. I wish they would bring back Hicks and Ripley as a couple. I would love it if they tied the other movies together somehow. In rnAlien, the 2 different planets confused me, the alien who had his chest rnblown out confused me. Was he the only one and where was the xenomorph rnthat exploded out of his chest? Too many unanswered questions stating with the first movie, Alien.
There are a couple of other directors and writers responsible for the other episodes so fingers crossed it'll be a bit different ahead. It may need a shove in another direction for change, switch tracks and let's see what happens. Just give me one or two memorable episodes at least 😆🙏
I have watched both episodes three times and honestly, I think i'm going through the stages of grief over this series. Currently, i'm in denial... Thank god for Timothy Olyphant is all i'll say, Kirsh is my fave character, along with Morrow. All the actors are good, imo. I really enjoyed the Xenomorph, some people didn't like it, but I thought the movements it did were great, the actor that was in the suit is incredible.
It's not terrible, but so far I am underwhelmed to say the least. I'll try and keep an open mind and enjoy the rest of the episodes but to me something is off and I can't explain it, it's like "Temu Alien", if that makes any sense. I subbed to Disney+ to watch and support the show, *cries*. Oh well, at least I can enjoy the other Alien movies there, lol.
It's probably just the old tech they used before switching to Androids, the Maginot was sent away 65 year ago. Obviously, at the end of the series, they're just going to say Weyland-Yutani won the corporate war and these other companies got bought out or dissolved, failed, whatever.
I just finished Ep.2. Holy cow it is so good. The Party scene is so mad lol.
I love also the siblings reunion. Both characters are fantastic and they are so going to protect each other.
ALIEN EARTH is going to be a hell of a freak show.
I'm really curious to learn more about the engineers—who they are, how they lived, and how they fit into the bigger picture.
Is he an android like the one in Alien?
When I saw Alien, I was 15 years old and it was 1982. That's when I wanted an explanation above all else. And when I saw Aliens, I was excited at first. Hooray for action, combat, explanation. That's what the success of Aliens is based on. JC knew exactly what he was doing.rnBut as the years went by, I, who loved Alien despite my initial enthusiasm, suddenly understood the tragedy that Aliens caused for the original Alien.rnRS quite deliberately left out the explanation. Alien is a de facto gothic horror film. Humans have no chance of survival, although they don't know it at first. The audience doesn't know why or what it's all about. And that's the amazing thing.rnThere's a spaceship. Who built it? When was it built? We'll never know. There's a dead pilot. Something killed him from the inside. No other crew. The next storyline will explain why. If Nostromo hadn't taken off, the situation would have repeated itself. A dead body with bones outside and no one around.rnNow that I think about it in the discussion, it's better that Alien didn't include the scene with Dallas and Brett's cocoons. It left a mystery. By the way, the alien ship wasn't carrying eggs. Kane clearly says "It's a cave, hot as the tropics". So the alien ship landed over the egg cave instead of the pyramid.rnIt's a good thing there were no hints. It remained a mystery. I think Ripley's words "they probably wanted the monster for the armaments factory" is a deliberate hoax. The command in the Mother is not to fly to a specific planet. It's a command to investigate ANY source of intelligent life and import a sample. Unfortunately, Aliens uses this phrase to build a story to confuse the viewer.rnAlien is a polished gem, and anything extra already cancels it out. Even the cocoon scene. The goal is total mystery. No hint of explanation.rnThere's a similar case in the history of literature. E A Poe and his book on A G Pym. The hero reaches the South Seas at a time when the existence or size of Antarctica was unknown. And when the mystical atmosphere is at its peak a giant white glowing figure appears and the book ends. That's all we learn.rnJules Verne did not understand this Poe's idea of deliberately not revealing the point or wanted to capitalize on it and wrote the novel The Ice Sphinx where the expedition to Antarctica explains everything. The death of Pym, making a mystical figure into an ice stump looking like a sphinx, etc. Someone was happy and the explanation.rnBack to RS. The creation of Prometheus and Covenant were his biggest failures. He decided to suppress the other movies of the original Alien and shattered the mythology with more nonsense than one would expect. He got tangled up in his own thoughts and got stuck in them.rnYes, Aliens was the gateway to the creation of the Alien universe. Hence the many video games, comics and various sequels, etc. For me, Alien will always remain as a one-off. Untouchable. Mount Everest. And everything around it whether Aliens , , Alien 3, AvP or Covenant are just avalanches that have fallen from its slopes. The mountain would remain a mountain even if a thousand avalanches fell from it.rnAll the attempts to figure out "how it was" are the acts of children who want to know more and so they make stuff up. Fabulating. Usually to their own detriment rn1) Where did the eggs come from in the cave? We don't know.2) why and where did the alien ship come from? We don't know. 3) Was the Alien intelligent or was it driven by perfect instincts? We don't know.rnThe sad thing is, after Scott built such a perfect structure, he joined the others who tried to destroy it for money. To no avail. In this, Alien is truly indestructible and has infected countless writers and audiences even without eggs. And it remains what it was meant to be. A mystery.
I'm still completely baffled by the movies and really wish they would rnfind a way to connect them all with some clear explanations. It would bern great to finally make sense of everything.
It's not just you, the music completely took me out of both episodes, just ruined the vibe. I think i'm going through the stages of grief over this series, so far I am underwhelmed to say the least. Currently, i'm in denial... Honestly, Romulus is a masterpiece compared to this.I guess everyone praising the series never actually watched an ALIEN film 😂 showing the beast in all its glory in the first few frames and transitioning with guitar / rock music is NOT on brand for the franchise. The music should be eerie, somewhat nonexistent at tense moments. Alien: Covenant did a much better job and even Romulus too for matching soundtrack with source material. Alien: Earth has some making up to do.
Not a fan of the music either.
The tradition of getting too close to the ovomorph and peeking inside continues.
Is Timothy Olyphant a robot? Why are his eyes so weird? He's a good actor but I don't understand what he is in this series.
He's an android and a Roy Batty ripoff from Blade Runner.
Aliens is an excellent film, and not just for the action sequences. You’re knee-deep in memorable characters, for one thing. To see Burke’s eyes darting about while he schemes is nothing to do with popcorn. You’re not going to spot that on the first viewing. I have watched Aliens numerous times. The dialogue is generally outstanding and - for its time - the special effects are pretty good.rnThe only things I really don’t like arern- rear screen projection, which is all too obvious at timesrn- the mushy conversation between Ripley and Newt when she’s tucked up in bedrn- timing error when Burke gets surprised ahead of the vocal he reacts torn- the Queen peering around a corner at Ripley - not convincingrn- Newt calling Ripley “mommy” near the endrnSmall niggles for a great movie. There are just too many good things to mention to make Aliens a bad movie.
I almost forgot Hudson. He made me laugh, especially when he was addressing his commanding officers. Wish he survived the movie and he was still around. R.I.P. Bill Paxton.
I'm not the biggest ALIENS fan...But it's a AWESOME movie.rnI'd reboot it in a second and change much of it....BUT It's my go to action / popcorn flick by a country mile!rnWish I could watch it on the big screen again ( and in 70mm FILM not digital! )
Aliens was my favorite movie. Loved the marines and their affection for each other, the developing love story between Ripley and Hicks, how Ripley showed a maternal side, and Apone was a great drill sergeant. I watch it over and over.
I'm sure the Offspring has Engineer DNA, I think they made it clear: they found the black goo ampules on LV-223.
Don't understand the black goo at all. It appears in more than one movie but they don't explain exactly what it does.
Liked the movie, couldn't stand the doctor and her boyfriend. Hope they don't bring her back.
I like science fiction and I read the book before I saw the first movie.
I just watched Aliens again and when Bishop was in the lab with the marines, he mentioned an embryo. So, if it's an embryo, shouldn't the xenomorph be completely alien? I always thought that the face hugger impregnated whatever it came in contact with. That's why I don't understand why the brother in the show Alien Earth wasn't attacked and killed. The xenomorph killed the pilot and co pilot. Also, the eggs were smaller than David's eggs.
Is there a difference?
I hope they explain everything before the season ends. Hate cliffhangers. I'm very confused about every Alien movie and now TV show. They don't answer questions. Like, How did two people have the alien dripping on them, but they didn't burn from acid blood? This has been answered by some of you. Thank you. I'm still confused about the black goo.
I can't recall the details but wasn't it xeno drool and not it's acid blood? The former isn't corrosive I think.
I myself not particularly fond of the Alien mimic opening, especially the waking up scene. The original is just so classic but the Alien Earth one looks so hurried and contrived, without adding anything fresh. I kinda like the scene from the mother room though.
Do you think we will get an episode of showing what really happened on USCSS Maginot ship? There are lot of ''flashback" during the opening and I don't really know what were those about.
I agree with some. The visuals were very good, but overall it doesn't feel like you're watching an Alien show. Even with the nod to the movie at the beginning of Ep 1. We immediately start with exposition dump, adding a bunch of new stuff to the franchise which becomes the main plot. It’s a generic sci-fi drama that just happens to rent xenomorphs for brand recognition. They’ve stripped away the xenomorph’s defining traits — the acid blood, the lethal speed, the predatory intelligence. It was the most dangerous lifeform in the galaxy, and it now struggles to even catch an average human.
We’re meant to take seriously a ‘search and rescue’ mission crewed by rifle-toting grunts and kids piloting adult-sized synthetic bodies. It all feels oddly Disneyfied — sanitized and softened — which might work fine in a generic sci-fi adventure, but it’s a tonal mismatch for Alien. Honestly, I’d probably enjoy it more if they’d just drop the Alien branding entirely.
I doubt things will change much with the next episodes. I'm sorry for the negativity, I really wanted this show to be good with all the hype surrounding it.
The xeno's blood has consistently been shown to be a highly corrosive acid throughout the extended alien universe, therefore I believe we have to assume that the "leak" is a bodily fluid other than blood. In Aliens the xenomorphs made a hive probably out of some bodily secretions and they also held victims captive with some type of sticky goo in the hive. Perhaps this is what the xeno leak in the TV show is.
I just finished Ep.1 and I quite like it so far. Very good visual and the overall tempo is good. Acting from all the major characters are great too, especially Kavalier. He is phenomenal. I think he is gonna kick ass in the whole show.
Overall I am glad it lives up the hype and it's definitely not a mess. I give a solid B for first episode.
What piqued my interest was the first film on vhs back in the mid 90s although I was way too young to watch it at the time. The thing that stayed with me the most was the antagonist itself, primarily its unique design but also how utterly violent and unstoppable it was. Unlike anything else, it was equal parts terrifying and as Ash would say: "fascinating" (a testament to H.R Giger's phenomenal talent for art and the whole film crew's amazing work)
What followed were the other films (Alien Resurrection being the first one I thoroughly finished) the Dark Horse comic books (personal favorite being Aliens: Alchemy from 1997) and the games, especially Alien Trilogy for the PS1.
I'd say I became a dedicated fan around 96-97 and have been every since thanks to how strong the franchise has kept going in regards to the amount of games, merchandise and films.
Long live Alien!
I hope they start delving into those other monsters that were onboard before the season ends. Who knows how long we'll have to wait for Season 2.
