I had to quit half way through this episode. I agree it was the most "alien" this series felt so far but the writing is just unbearably bad. too many dumb characters doing dumb things. im done with this show.
I feel ya, I was this close 🤏 to quit but I'm merely watching to see cool separate scenes at this point as a huge Alien fan. It's a big production after all.
Frank Darabont (The Mist) or James Wan (The Conjuring)
wow , what a blast from the past , really enjoyed it and is the best one so far
just wished they went further back in the ships travels on rounding up the Aliens
I want David’s story more than Romulus 2
Honestly same, but I have a feeling Fede wanted to dip further into prequel lore and try his hand at David's story and Ridley considers that very much "his" creation, likely doesn't want anyone else telling that story but him. I can't blame him for that, though. A huge portion of this fanbase want to see what happened to David and Ridley knows it. Romulus and whatever Ridley are planning should remain separate, imo.
For all we know this rumor could be BS and their plans were already to keep the two approaches separate. Maybe it's also a means to survey what audiences want.
Just finished watching Covenant again. I never could figure out why David was so cooperative at the end. Was it because he was more concerned with ridding the solar system of the 2000 plus humans on board and the embryos? Also, what happened to the extra xenomorph on the planet? Weren't there 2 in the beginning. One was shot and killed by the captain and the other was impaled and tossed overboard by the new captain. That left one and Walter on the surface since he couldn't die. So, yes I definitley want to see Covenant 2 to explain all that.
The one who directed the first film, Alien.
He'd be great but super busy. He's currently filming Dune Messiah then is doing Bond 26
I know, it's wishful thinking on my part. I don't think my dream will come true 😂 Wonder if Neill Blomkamp is gonna throw his hat in the ring. 👀
This is a roughly 14 or so year old site. I've been on it almost 9 years. There isn't much that can be done to revitalize old threads. Starting new topics is recommended instead.
For what it's worth this is a seven year old topic. Many of the members in the thread are no longer active. I believe for the most part your replies are going unnoticed
Would you bring it back? I thought this was a new website.
No one is upset but you have asked a few questions irrelevant to this topic. I'm not even sure why you came back here with this after you clarified you had a topic and the answers you wanted
I want David’s story more than Romulus 2
Just finished watching Prometheus again. Was almost as good as Aliens. Was David obsessed with Lawrence of Arabia or did he just like the movie? Was Vickers in an unnatural relationship with her father? Hated Shaw and the boyfriend. How did the captain figure out it was a military installation with bioweapons? Sometimes the same scenes are played out in different movies. Why didn't they have subtitles when "the engineers" were talking? Why is it always black goo in any container? That was confusing. Was the instructions written on the wall of the cave? How did David know how to open things and speak their language? Why did the only surviving "engineer" have so much hatred for the people who woke him up?
Well, one of the plot features we do know of is a trip to the Alien homeworld! A definite setting most fans are hoping for.
How long do you think it's going to take?
My poor, poor Bishop getting torn apart. :(rnDavid used his beloved Shaw to create that monster, it's his child and his life's work, of course he's gonna be upset it was killed. He wanted to create life and become more than an android or the humans and engineers, to become a god I suppose. David certainly never followed anyone's instructions once he was left to his own devices. He also contacted WY at the end of Alien:Covenant so that's probably how they knew about the Xeno and replaced the Science Officer with Ash in the first movie, to get a specimen.rnI honestly don't think an AI is running WY, I do think they will expand on the Android/Synthetics lore in the series though, so i'm looking forward to that.rnThe series seems to be taking notes from the old comics like 'Aliens: Earth War'. WY knew about the Xeno because of events that happened in some of the comics IIRC. This series is set a couple of years before either Prometheus or Alien and WY was aware of the Xeno in that too.
Did Yutani become part of the company in Alien 3? Before Ripley killed herself, an Asian man was part of the group who were trying to take her back to the ship so they could take the monster out of her.
@Love Sci fi, just a friendly reminder that this is indeed Ninxenos topic as he obviously created it so please don't derail it or someone else's. You're questions are not unreasonable and it's fun to discuss all things Alien, that's why we're here right? But please feel free to create a new topic with your questions and we'll take the discussion there. Respectfully//N
I don't understand how I am derailing his topic. I'm usually just asking questions. Why is he so upset?
No big deal, Romulus was an OK love letter to the Alien films but not exactly a masterpiece.
A good script is needed first and foremost. and good actors. Which director is less important (but still important of course)
He'd be great but super busy. He's currently filming Dune Messiah then is doing Bond 26
My pick remains Denis Villeneuve for an Alien movie. I think he's done the most justice for source material for the franchises he's made films for. He'd bring some amazing skill to Alien and he's worked with Ridley before on Blade Runner.
I'm surprised by this but fine with it. I had enough issues with Romulus as is. I just can't think of who they could actually get. My dream pick has always been Alex Garland but he's doing the Elden Ring movie.
Hope the original director comes back.
Cloning make little sense....rnWhen were they cloned?rnA plot line could be:rn rnReal Ripley goes to sleep just like the end of Aliens....Sulaco begins it's journey home...rnThe atomic blast on LV426 has awakened/alerted the Engineers(or something else)...they come to investigate.rn...The Engineers find the Queen floating in orbit above LV426...good start to the movie....rnSulaco is tracked down(leaking engines....easy trail to follow) Real Ripley gets abducted by Engineers/Elders/ cloned many times....dipped in vats of black goo? Lots of screams and fetuses....Engineers clone victims(and space suits/ships/etc...) and use them for experiments. rnBig adventure ensues(Alien 5)rnReal Ripley dies doing something(saving Newt..etc..)rnEngineers defeated....rnClone Ripley/Clone Newt/Clone Hicks want to return to Earth on the Sulaco..they want to get away from all this madness......Begin Alien 3.rn?...probably work?
The Queen was already found for the TV show. Just watched Alien3 and it's just as bad as Alien Resurrection. Someone suggested that Ripley had a dream and she looks like she's dreaming in the beginning of Alien3. Hope they write off 3 and Resurrection as nightmares by Ripley and reunite her with Hicks and Newt. The cryochambers could have broken which will age them and the original stars can come back. Does anyone remember when Michael Biehn played Johnny Ringo in the movie Tombstone?
If it's a good script then i'm ok with that. I loved Romulus but his style of directing was a bit distracting sometimes
Update: I guess it is true… found the source.
It is an enjoyable show, but don't like some of the stuff they are messing with in the lore, like how can the android communicate with the Alien ?
I bet they go down the road that the Alien is just misunderstood and not that bad after all.
Like they did with Orcs in rings of power.
I had to quit half way through this episode. I agree it was the most "alien" this series felt so far but the writing is just unbearably bad. too many dumb characters doing dumb things. im done with this show.
The writing definitely leaves much to be desired, but we've got 3 more episodes to go! Aren't you curious how it ends?
I don't think that's the intended goal, but more so a potential consequence for their inability to handle containment of these organisms. No one would knowingly or intentionally poison their own home unless its thoroughly infested.
I have a hankering to watch Alien: Covenant today, myself 😂 I find the more often I rewatch Prometheus and Covenant the more I appreciate them. People were so critical of these two films when they first came out but honestly, Scott did a great job with them. Prometheus will always have those subtle issues with the writing, Charlize Theron (my least favorite character) and the matching heart rates but it really was a decent film. Both Prometheus and Covenant have vastly more unsettling and scary "Alien" moments than anything that's come since. The Hammerpede attack, the Trilobite, the Deacon bursting scene in Prometheus. The Backburster scene in Covenant. And - Michael Fassbender as David - can't beat David and Fassbender's performance.Agreed. My unpopular opinion would be that I prefer both Prometheus and Covenant over Romulus. Watched Prometheus and Covenant back to back the other night. Alien was last night.
Tonight I'm going to watch Alien3. Each night I watch the movies and then the last episode in the TV series. I've observed some things I never saw before thanks to some of you. I just hate the movies, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection but I want to see if I can figure some things out now that some of you have enlightened me.
and ,,,,,,,Enjoying the tunes at the end of each episode , ROCK ON
Just think it's out of place. Liked the music in the movies. Hoping they change all this for season 2.

Found this, from the creator himself, re: T.Ocellus being 'good':"I think it was creating a distraction to allow the creature to do its thing,” Hawley says. “As you keep watching in the season, one might begin to suspect that this one [species] is smarter than the other ones, and that it thinks in a longer-term way."
By the sounds of it, the Ocellus has no alignment or allies with any other organism but is able to calculate and anticipate events to preserve its own self interests. Not good, not evil, just a survivor in any environment. Of course us as Humans will try to find reason to adapt Human traits to it, but ultimately it’s just another sentient being trying to avoid death. I’m liking the Ocellus more and more as the series goes on, however I would have liked the Xenomorph to have been given a little more respect for it’s intelligence but Hawley wanted it to be more like a “bug” again. 🙄
The Ticks don't need a living victim, that was shown twice in this episode, first with the dead rat and second with the freshly-dead crew member Clem (AKA Chlamydia!).
First time I heard their name I was like - wait what? 💀😂 But yeah, very true. These ticks will feast on anything, making them a major hazard to any ecosystem.
"Lots of plot holes, starting with the first movie. They all need to be addressed." You sure you don't want to start a topic on this? You're saying this everywhere. Lay out all your questions and we'll discuss.

Re: Nibs' pregnancy.
Octopuses mate by sticking sperm into the female using a specialized arm. Is T.Ocellus capable of something like this?
The xenomorph patiently stood right in front of the captain yet does not kill her (!) trips her with its tail (?) allows her to get back up on her feet (!!) and she successfully runs away in the worst Disney chase scene since Leia and the bandits in the terrible Obi-Wan series. The xenomorph charges after her way faster than any human could possibly run yet she outruns it. I get that some characters have plot armor but this is ridiculous. First Hermit and now this captain avoid getting killed in encounters with the xeno despite being served on a silver plate. Who writes this?? Yes she does get killed at the end so I guess the xenomorph realized it's a killing machine after all. Also in the beginning of the episode no one seems to react a lot to the fact that two of their crew members were facehugged and one of them (previous captain) having his whole throat melted by acid. That young kid even made jokes in this inappropriate situation. It's so off-putting and unrealistic despite that I really try my best to suspend my disbelief at all times but this is Idiocracy-level idiotic.Morrow singlehandedly carried this episode and just barely saved it from being almost unwatchable. Nitpicks (and there are many) include the "perfect organism" xenomorph (well not anymore thanks to Disney) struggling in a fight against a possessed human, the editing with occasional scene fade outs killing any ounce of suspense, Ikea-quality glass cylinders that are supposed to contain highly dangerous organisms, hentai tentacle monster tapping the glass to warn the scientist (lol), a junior/trainee engineer so shockingly stupid I'm surprised he even manages basic daily routines, and so many throwbacks to Alien that even Fede Alvarez' love letter Romulus fade in comparison. The good parts were the scenes with Morrow, some impressive CGI (especially the facehuggers and the xenomorph) the shootout scene against the traitor and the appearance of the infected senior engineer, looking like he came straight from The Thing. This series is like a high-budget YouTube fan film. Severely flawed yet occasionally entertaining.
Nothing will ever be worse than the Leia / bandits chase scene 🤣
But yeahhhhh I'm still confused why the Xenomorph was so selective with who it killed and who it toyed with. Is there a reason? The Xenomorph has often been an inquisitive organism as much as it is aggressive. My speculation is that it's simply playing with its food, so to speak.
I just watched Aliens again and when Bishop was in the lab with the marines, he mentioned an embryo. So, if it's an embryo, shouldn't the xenomorph be completely alien? I always thought that the face hugger impregnated whatever it came in contact with. That's why I don't understand why the brother in the show Alien Earth wasn't attacked and killed. The xenomorph killed the pilot and co pilot. Also, the eggs were smaller than David's eggs.
Godzilla Minus One 2
Oh, true that is quite possible, the acid burn being from when they tried removing the Facehugger off the captain. That makes sense. The tick aliens though – they do pose a serious risk, if they get to a body of water, no telling how aggressive they could multiply and spread. They were in the water bottle and didn't grow.
The baby ticks were put in the water bottle to infect a host rather than to grow. The real danger is in enough of these babies get into a water supply source on earth (New Siam or Neverland most likely) to infect other species. The ticks feed on blood but it doesn't have to be human and maybe doesn't have to be from a living organism. Then those babies grow and probably make more babies and infect more hosts and so on and so on. That's when you get a disaster level event.
