I remember thinking the Nostromo emblazoned trucker jackets and ball caps the cast and crew were wearing everywhere upon release were a bit goofy and didnt lend well to the scary theme of the film.

Mind you.....Nostromo was a freighter. Prometheus is a science vessel. Its the same in our world. Compare a tanker to something like a warship.

And he would probably remove the dome for that crappy one he used lol which i dont know why he did that apart from worrying about them breaking. Perhaps he shouldve used Polyurethane like i am rather than Polyester which is what Giger used at the time. Polyurathane is almost indestructable.....thats why im using it for my alien head. Due to its size and weight.

Prometheus and beyond is a good one. I'm sure they will think of something. Maybe a link to a new site. It would be nice to have a place to check in for any future project updates, like BOF does with Batman movie news.

Ridley has spoken directly to that issue, saying more or less 'been there done that, in fact implying he pretty much was among the first to 'grunge' things up

I seen the interview of Ridley & he says ... with much technological advancement today I cant portray a very gloomy movie... ALIEN was 1979 ... Prometheus is 2012..

I think there is a LOT of misdirection going on with these clips. First off, if the impact point is in fact just above the "giney" slits in the "crotch" area, that is the actual location of the bridge/control/holo-map room... whatever you want to call it. So, not only is there no visible damage in other clips, but there is no evident massive damage to the bridge of the "Derelict" from 1979. ((btw, I do NOT think these are the SAME vessels...)) Secondly, when we first see the Jockey vessel n the trainlers rising, it appears to be going STRAIGHT up like a moon-shot or shuttle launch. It doesnt look like there is any way that the Prometheus will be able to overtake it after it drops the escape shuttle/EEV (whatever). So that would mean that the Prometheus not only overtook the Jockey vessel, but was also able to manouver ahead of it so that it could make a ramming run directly on its center mass... This doesnt seem to quite make sense. I think there is going to a complete 180 degree twist in the final acts of Promethues.. whether that OTHER Jockey vessels emerging from other landing bays, who knows?

Please stay away and do not wreck the franchise again ;)!

I love Alien 3 too. Although it was pretty much an ode to Ridley's work in Alien, and I personally didn't think that film needed an ode, but I love the fact it went back to what Alien was all about (an unstoppable creature (Ripley fired a plasma engine at it and whether or not it's alive, it was still in one piece.) Not bullets ripping them apart left, right and center). I was very excited when it was released, then disappointed then when the (unbutchered) further cut was release excited all over again. That's why Fincher never talks about it, because it was decided to remove the middle of his film and thus ruin it, I would love to see that man approach the subject again, That film was truly uncomfortable as Alien should make you feel. You have a completely hostile environment, filled with male prisoners you wouldn't trust with your dinner money, a good sense of how far the company will go to get their hands on the Alien. A great speech and a glorious final"run" where all in a forgotten about prison decide that they're lives are pretty much worthless so stand up and kick out against both the company an the Alien.

Yes...the only film production ever allowed to use the Neptune Pool at Hearst Castle here in California...a rather special film in my film obsession. The reconstruction restored what was considered too controversial at the time, hard to believe that now.

A. The ship is capable of self repair......hence the bone structures in 1979 movie. B. Its indestructable which is why it doesnt collapse under its own weight from that height. I talked about this in another post with questions that needed answering. Somewhere on here lol. And i meant the hologram colour sorry.....rather than lazers. The hologram of the star chart in the chair room........well its the same colour as the blue mist above the eggs in Alien that reacts when broken.

Well, the site can still serve as a forum for discussing our feelings about the film after we see it and any unanswered or new questions. Plus it can keep us posted any future Ridley projects, especially if a sequel is in the works.

Its a very valid question. I really hope that this site continues, but did ask myself earlier if it will be as popular as it is now after weve all seen the movie. Plus it seems this site has taken over as unofficially the official site for everything Prometheus. And.....perhaps the fan directors like Cameron etc may do sequels to Prometheus as they did with Alien. Perhaps we`ll end up with Prometheus vs Predator movies lol.....so instead of 4 alien movies plus 2 AVP movies we end up with another 4+2 movies making Alien the biggest universe franchise in the ......well.......universe lol.

I thought it was underrated and then I watched it again. I just didnt like the direction they chose to take it and wish they had taken it a different way. I never had nightmares about Aliens until the third.

Good question and the future of the site may be something on the order of what you yourself have typed here...maybe "Prometheus and Beyond" Ridley Scott is not done yet and the "Beyond" would cover his following Sci-Fi projects.

Why do people do things that they are warned against doing? I think it is because our minds are drawn to action verbs. The DON'T gets lost to the positive action. The sign says "Do not Touch" and all our mind's eye sees is "Touch" The sign says "Do not Go Here" and our minds read "Go Here" The message should be "Stay Away" or something similar. We do the suggested positive action. Of course the best action would be to not advertise the location in the first place. Out of sight: out of mind.

Nice link ... I got that movie (Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet) ... along with a ton of old classic sci-fi ... love em all ... even the crap ones :) ... I'm a sucker for a B Movie ... Ridley is one of those directors who likes to add a lot of currently used technology in his scifi movies ... he does a lot of research to see if this is possible now or very possible in the very near future ... he is a 'NOW' man more than a scifi man ... I think he's gonna use a lot of this NEW science stuff in Prometheus ... I like that kind of SciFi (but SciFi fact, if you like) ... he bases this on the notion that we would already be up in the stars, if Kennedys space program took offf when it was supposed to ... that's his ision for the future ... we're already there ...

Like I said, it detaches from prometheus, but it looks like more than just a lifeboat.

In this deleted scene the alien's movement reminds me of the Dark Star space hopper.

Ok ... What about ... Prometheus is a rescue mission? ... [b]Theory 1:[/b] Weyland was already 'out there' (before Prometheus) doing 'something' ... so they're off to save his arse from the planet because 'he' f*cked up ... somewhere? ... Then this proceeds into another of my other theories (after rading great stuff on here) ... [b]Theory 2:[/b] I reckon the humans possibly grab one of the derelicts to escape the planet and try to get home ... but they crash land it by accident on LV-426 ... the other derelict gets smashed by Prometheus ... the basis of this theory is based upon the fact that the original SJ is NOW wearing a suit (after Ridley confirms this) ... so ... ANYBODY could've been in that suit and in that chair ... So by saying that we could now have a potential crew now onboard that ship ... David, WEYLAND (I'd like to guess so) and possibly a couple others maybe ... the reason they send out a signal is for 'help' ... this is because Weyland IS onboard ... Earth therefore pulls out all the stops (money no object) and go retrieve him ... hence why the company KNOW what's on that ship because of the signal ... Damn insomnia ...
