@centrosphere Judging by the trailer they are actually in the ship when they think they are in a temple. The first time I heard about a giant head being in this film was a remark Ridley Scott made before production began. If I remember correctly he mentioned a giant head piloting a ship through space... I also read the alien harvest script that was floating about a while ago,which has probably proven to be a fake first draft of Prometheus by now for all I know. But (Possible Spoiler) there was a mention of the engineers having a telepathic ability in that. There were also scenes where they telepathically forced two men to have sex in a futile attempt to get them to reproduce.

As far as I understand, the troops in Aliens were a kind of Special Forces. So even though they were small they could do more than a larger number of soldiers. Also, I think they were used to fighting extra terrestrials, hence the "bug hunt" talk. Still, it does seem odd that the Company would send Burke yet none of the Soldiers really knew what they would be facing or were adequately trained. Also it's very odd that the Lt. was very "green", with no combat history. *On a side note, Cameron basically invented the Queen and hive idea for his movie. Aliens is very different from the original Alien in many respects. Cameron changed a lot of things that Giger and Scott had intended to be the original mythos to be (Although i have seen interviews with Giger and he very much loved the Alien Queen design). There is a scene from Alien that was cut from the movie, that shows the true lifecycle of the Xenos, they needed no Queen. I find it very disturbing, more so than a giant Queen laying eggs. Well Snorkelbottom, I think me and you are the only ones on here that would like to see AVP stay in the canon somehow and don't disown the films. I've said before in other threads sbout AVP thst I own both on Blu-Ray and give them a watch once in a while. Heck, i even have My digital copy of Requiem sitting in my iPad. Hmm, I think it's anything but a probe? I think it may well be an actual bowl? The probes actually look practically round, to me - and two halves of this here "bowl" together would be an ovoid-lookin' thing... Furthermore, it doesn't look "ripped"...and the idea of a SJ or something grabbing a probe of the air, smartly bisecting it and then leaving a half balanced on top of some old big stone ball for someone to walk past and be all "Oh no!" - while SJ is around the corner thinking "MUA-HAHA! Chase me!...."? I'm just fun-ing with you, but on the real side: no, I don't think it works... (What would he do with the other half, anyway?)

I just recognized that "BTW" can stand for Between The Wheels from P/G..I've seen them live on every tour since Roll The Bones (outdoor venues also rule). Myself and a friend drove to Sarnia for an outdoor show during the "Time Machine" tour a couple of summers ago...too bad his 1994 felony for an LSD bust sent him back to Port Huron :S...I was on Alex's side about 20 feet from the stage. My ears are still ringing from that show.

Well the issue is when any discovery is made man proclaims at as the 1st of its kind or the beginning of whatever they find. Not the case! There is always something that came before its just a case of we havent found it or time and decay have made it unrecognizable.

"In one of the Alien Novel (ettes), the SJ was telepathic (to the human)." There's a very brief clip in one of the trailers, in which it appears that an SJ has taken control of a female crewmember, and it may go beyond telepathy to telekenesis. Mind control is kinda cliche', but it's almost a no-brainer for a super-d-duper advanced race of corporeal beings [i]in a movie.[/i] If they can't control our minds with theirs, just how super-d-duper advanced could they really be? When you have limited time, and want to avoid a lot of potentially boring exposition, someone jerking around like a puppet gets the -"wow! these guys are super-advanced'- point across very quckly and effectively in the visual language of film.

Hi folks, ...I thought it was about time to join the board since I'm psyched about this movie as all of you. For starters, I live in Michigan and appreciate all the Prometheus material that I've been browsing on the site. The Alien still-shot my book was my introduction to the film ( I might have 12ish at that time) and nothing compares to this film. Think I bought the Quadrilogy at Breast Buy after the price came down (even at full price it's worth every cent)..finally, we get the backstory after 30 years! Well, suppose that it for right now (my Ativan and a full stomach is hitting me!) BTW, Rush rules!

Well, if they set humanity in motion, we certainly became fruitful and multiplied.......The thing is, our notion of time and urgency might be completely irrelevant to beings which live for thousands of years....or perhaps, even longer. Instead of regularly flitting hither and yon, perhaps they spend eons in stasis, just waiting for their experimental results to show up and ring the dinner bell. In any event, I certainly don't think we'd have anything to offer any highly advanced race, in terms of technology.

Do they want to “wipe us out” in that punitive sense? Or, to put it another way: this seems an assumption, from a particularly human perspective. Yes, it appears that they represent a threat to us, from our perspective - but on what basis? If we adopt the position of a literal-ish interpretation Prometheus, the legend - coupled with a thought that is based on humans stealing something, the storyline would almost seems too simplistic to stand up properly: They created us, left us their address and then get upset when we move what they left lying around like the children we are? That doesn’t make sense - what do they care what we meddle with? If they are as God’s would be to us, with one wave of their hand, they simply un-meddle it? If they are as God’s would be to us, they must have anticipated our curiosity and imagination, as well as our jealousy and greed, if we have evolved to a stage where we are able to accept their invitation: so, why be quite so angry and surprised when that is exactly what we display? And, if they are as God’s would be to us, they will already know that we couldn’t possibly have one idea what might and might not anger them?.. Ultimately, if they don’t want the guests in their house, with all the risk of disruption that the invitation entails - why invite the guests? The only thing I can come up with is that the basis for the threat to us, is not so simple as retribution for a misdemeanour. It must be more complex than that and the clue would have to be in the initial conceit: yes, they invited us - but for what purpose? I’m guessing, NOT necessarily because they are generous and kind and wish to, at last, know their creation and for their creation to know them?….. It could be that accepting their “invitation” only serves to let them know that we are ready, somehow, in some sense, to be harvested. @BigDave I just saw your comment we think on similar lines, except there will have been "billions of humans" for a very, very long time before we are finally able to travel interstellar?... I'd say it cannot just be about biological matter (or mass)? There must also be something about "intelligence" and it's relationship to "technology" that must be in play for this to stand - if it was just about bio-mass, they may as well have come and got that themselves. If they are as God’s would be to us, this is no difficulty – they know where we are; and they will have been able to calculated for population development under certain conditions and variants of conditions, over a certain period of time because even we can do that. There are criss-crossing slots in the outer shell of the probes, so there's no way you could make a "bowl" out of one of them. Also, the surface of the probes is very irregular--they have a rough, scaly, jeweled pattern. Plus the idea that one of the creatures sliced anything precisely in half to create a bowl and left it for the Prometheaus' crew members is incredibly lame. No way does Ridely Scott put something like that in his movie.

The "saucer" could be a device used for terraforming. The surface details -what we can can make out, anyway- look similar to those on the now-familiar lumpy boomerang.

Wow, this is a theory for the Blue guy i can actually follow, it would make sense...with the sizes and stuff, especially since the xenomorph is bigger than a normal human so in turn shaws baby, the blue guy would, becasue i couldnt follow the infected/mutated human growing and becoming really tall ( jockey size ) I would like to see this, you may solved it, since i havent seen anyone connecting the blue guy and shaws baby :P

Well all we know for sure is that Shaw has some Organism removed from her, but how it got there is another matter. We have that scene where that Tenticle seems to be chassing her, if this scene is after the operating table scene then it could be the Squid thing that maybe escapes. If this is before that scene then it could be this Organism is what gets her Pregnant. Now although one of Gigers works shows sexual scenes of Eel like creatures, thats not to say thats how it would happen. If its the case i bet like in Alien it would be a case of what you dont see. So you will know that the Organism gets to her but will not see what happens. And who is to say that the Organism implants a Embrio into her Throat? Another posibility is Holloway he has some kind of leach type organism in his eye. Maybe when they have a scene where they are kissing, they make love (off screen) and some how either Holloways Genes are infected or that actual Organism gets into her Womb and Merges with one of her Eggs and thus she becomes Pregnant that what with a Hybrid Organism. As far as what the creature could look like, Gigers Artwork formed the basis for the Face Hugger, Chest Burster, Derelict and its architecture and the actual Xeno. In the Alien Cycle Artwork you see what looks simular to the Space Jockeys in this movie and not the Alien one. So again maybe this Movie will take a lot or even direct inspiration from some of Gigers works.

They are re-releasing the Alien picture book this May or June I believe but you can find the old one on Amazon.com, I saw it there a few times.
