Yes, surely the absence of any restraint has to be absolutely significant in interpreting this clip? It looks to me like she's practically hysterical at the sight of the thing, thrashing, likely in pain, probably in horrified recoil, as best she can (given the small amount of space and the fact, I think, that the umbilical is still attached), which would reasonable under the circumstances: which are, I'm going to speculate, that this woman has just, deliberately, knowingly and in presumably in desperation it's hard to imagine; operated - on herself.

To me maybe the Heads Mouth Opens and is in itself a Door to the Labrynth of Coridoors? The Head also could be what the Gods/Jockeys look like and Mankind was made in their image. Man does look like Titans, the Egyptian and Sumerian Gods also look a lot like their creations.

no, i dont think its there fault...... for instance lets say a guy just now wants to get into the Prometheus talk, and he has the idea that the space jockeys made the aliens, this has been talked about WAAAAAAAY back, and we really dont talk about it that much anymore because we all already know it, so there is now way for this guy to know, unless he read EVERY SINGLE POST back for like 20 pages, so i propose a new solution, what if we have a new forum list, where people can ask if its been talked about, if so then thats it, if not then they can come and make a real post. as simple as that, because a search button would do nothing, titles dont really say what the actual topic is about........

Also did she not say "there wont be a home left to go to, if IT" Maybe she means the Ship or the Cargo.

Well Ridley did say that the last 8 minutes could lead to being connected with Alien. But i think it opens up posibilities to explore another side of the universe than the Xeno Aliens.

have you noticed that shaw (in the pic with the space jockeys in the back) is wearing the one space suit with the orange stripes, but the orange stripes now look blue........ anyone else notice this? if not i will make a new topic about it to shed some more light on this pic......

I thought the stuff in the bowl was the same stuff you see in the blokes eye in the trailer ? not so sure if its a broken probe

From what i have seen in the Space Jockey scenes and by that i mean the above image, the one of what apears to be headless one dead on floor, the Blue Man shots and the actual Jockey in the Seat. I assume that the Jockey are a Large 9ft+ Humaniod Race who wear a Space Suit, and when they sit into the Chair the Chair connects itself to the Pilot and the rib cage structure is just a harness/seat belt to make sure the Pilot does not come out of the Chair. Just as how you get strapped into a Roller Coaster.

I actually dont think that it is standing on an ampule..the bottom is too big for an ampule..maybe kinda small altar or something.. and the slime in it begins to transform..

It looks to me like the lid to an ampule as well and the stuff on top of that is the strange moving substance that David is admiring with a smirk.

In another scene does Holloway not take a close look at a simular bowl and sees some Organism thats moving about, i bet thats when he gets infected with some kind of Parasite.

@craigamore Your last paragraph is like what i was saying, if they SJ find out we know where they are and how to get there and they realise upon seeing how we turned out that we cant be trusted to come across their secret. They know we would send out others in future. In 5 years we could send out a Probe to Moon Europa in Search of Life, if that mission fails and we lose contact with the Probe is that it? Would we never bother again? No at some point we would send out more Probes and thus the Space Jockeys would know that Prometheus would not be the last mission Earth does to its planet and if they dont want us getting our hands on the secrets of life then only way to stop us is to wipe us out at the source. @Slowboat You gave me a idea, if its a trap. Maybe mankind is a Host for something they need us for, and they need a large number of us for us to be of use. So they will know that by the time we can travel the Stars to find them, then our population would have grown to Billions and then the Space Jockeys have enough Human Matter on Earth for some task or use they have for us. They would then know Earth has Billions of Hosts.

This documentary of Blade Runner is possibly the best I have ever seen. If you never liked Blade Runner maybe this will change your mind. It's told by Ridley, the actors and everyone involved in the film. Most notably, it shows how much pressure the Studio "money Men" put on Ridley Scott. Sad how much they made him cut out of the movie and the lack of vision they had. There are 8 parts. I linked #2. I see ZERO similarities, although in fact there must be thousands, they both feature a MODERN city and in both that city is really the story itself...however, and Rutgers incredible acting aside, I find BLADERUNNER to be maybe the single most overrated film I have ever seen!!! After watching it many times over I find it impossibly boring to watch today...where as with Alien I am never board by it, even after 50 gazillion viewings. I understand why it's so popular but I Just find it to be impossibly slow and empty with regard to substance. The final image of Ford picking up one of the replicants paper creations did not really leave such a lasting imprint with me, as much as I love creativity and all...in the end it's just that one thing more than any other for me..."Boring".

In the scheme of the Galaxy Zeta Reticuli system is actually not that far about 40 Light Years. The Closest Star System next to Sol is Alpha Centauri which is about 4 Light Years away. I would assume that no matter where you are in the Galaxy rge closest you would find two different Stars systems would average to about 4-5 LY. So a race who can travel from Star System to Star System should have no problems traveling as far as Earth is from Zeta Reticuli. Your theory about the Space Jockeys being a Race created by the Engineers and then wiping their creators out is interesting, that depends on who you think the Space Jockey are. Because if the Space Jockey are the race who invented those Pilot Suits then would that mean they are the Blue Guy, which would then mean are the Derelict Space Ships the Space Jockeys? And again why does a Space Jockey apear to be dead with head cut off in the one scene? Whats interesting is the ampule canisters have markings on them that do not corispond with the markings on/in the Temple, on the head statue or indeed in the Derelict Ship. The Markings on the ampule canisters looks more like Predator markings.

I didn't think about that before...but you bring up a very interesting point. Perhaps a Space Jockey found it , "ripped" it apart as you said, and laid it where one of the Prometheus crew would find it. In essence, a trap. Good call, by the way!

I'm curious to see how Man of Steel, Star Trek(2), and even Robocop will turn out.

I know! This last one baffles me, too, because of those SJ suits or statues or whatever they are. WTF. I thought the chair was the suit, not a separate mobile suit.

I finally got into Blade Runner after writing a paper on it in college. The paper was on comparing the style of Blade Runner to Fritz Lang's Metropolis. Ridley Scott had said he used the architectural style of buildings for Blade Runner. It's funny, but the 1982 cut of Blade Runner was on Encore this past Sunday. After viewing the 1991 Director's Cut, the 1982 version(especially with the Deckard V.O.) wasn't all that exciting. In the end, I'd have to consider Blade Runner as Ridley;s 2nd best film, with Alien as #1.

i AM SO HAPPY AFTER READING ALL OF THIS...because one of if not the first thing I said after the first leaked trailer was..."I betcha this all starts with some sort of discovered "INVITATION" to a Dance In Outer Space, somewhere on Earth. It was a great idea then, and it is a great idea now, and I love what you guys have done with it, just fantastic, highly creative, love it

I havnt seen any evidence that the SJs hate us... I have a feeling that the painted messages were probably made by early man and perhaps were misinterpreted them. I reckon that after finding them we meddle with things which we shouldnt and it all goes south. Cant wait to find out.

I am also thinking we should not be looking at the Space Jockey in Alien and trying to think why it looks different. Indeed the very Derelict ship in this movie may not be the same one that landed/crashed on LV 426 and hence the not a direct prequel. We need to maybe look at 1) The Star Charts found in Ancient Civilisations in the movie, which is Fiction but they are using references to real Ancient Civilisations and Myths. Sumerian, Egyptian and off course the Titans of Greeks (Prometheus) now these Civilisations have Gods that are depicted as being just like Man only taller, more devine and powerfull. They created us in their image and out of clay. The images of these Gods apear as Man just double the height. 2) The Story of Prometheus, which again is based on one Titan who created us from clay, using his genes he creates us in his image. This is done without the consent of the other Titans. He then also steals Fire from the Titans to give to his Children. So i my theory is that somehow a group of Space Jockeys/Engineers set off and created Mankind and left clues of where he came from. He created us maybe without the knowledge of the other Space Jockeys. Thus the Space Jockeys may be a little suprised when we turn up and think who are they, or how did they find us. The Map room shows a Hologram of Earth so maybe they knew about us, or not. Again maybe instead or aswell, we come across their temples and maybe the remainder of their race are dorment. But they are awoken when they find we are up to no good and messing about with their secrets to create life and even stealing some. But then how do we explain the one Jockey that is dead and has his head cut off, who did that? Another Space Jockey?, the crew of Prometheus. And whats with that Alien looking Murial? There are so many posibilities. And we may be close or not even close, i guess its not long to wait. Whats also interesting is a few people online claim to have seen things from the set, but they could be just talking BS. One report is that there are Aliens or Simular in this movie that are killing the Jockeys. Another is that there is a Alien lifeform in this movie that is larger than the Xenos. The one thing the Production Team said was the crew of Prometheus set out to find mankind origins but come across a Race of Bio Mechanical Killers which implies a not friendly race... but is that Space Jockeys or Alien Organism?
