awesome. Good then that's means the TV series is in its own continuity
@DarkNebula - That's a great catch! Never seen that before. Thanks.
Cool!
I hope the interior of the BigChap rescue ship is retro! Old monitors and such.
I Hope BigDave will show up sometime and add some thoughts.
Great breakdown Nebula! I've got more to add when I have more time. As for the speculation - I'm not sure anyone will have survived on the ROMULUS station by the time the crew of 6 arrive - besides a slaughtered Android (maybe...)
From the sounds of it - the station has been abandoned for some time so it's unlikely any Humans survived.
The big question I haven't figured out yet - HOW do the scavengers of this gritty / poverty-stricken colony learn of this station's whereabouts? This leads me to think WY are busy planting moles and tips to eager / unsuspecting people to go investigate their lost property they're too scared to check in on themselves hahaha.
@MonsterZero - yes, as far as I'm aware the film will start with footage of Big Chap being recovered. My source explained that the Xenomorph is still alive upon recovery but not in good shape - as we can imagine. The fate of Big Chap is a painful one.
This is one of the many details that I'm most excited for, something about the connection to the first movie just does it for me.
@MonsterZero Reminds me of this animated short from 2014
Excellent!
I wonder if they will show the Big Chap being discovered? That's how I'd start the movie:
A tiny object tumbling over and over in deep space....starts the movie.
The floating frozen xenomorph is suddenly illuminated....grappling arms extend to collect the prize.
CUT
A plot based on the “leaks” so far:
-The film will start on a new planet showcasing a gritty, industrial colony where the main characters live.
-One of the characters is an android.
-The characters leave the planet and find an abandoned WY space station “Romulus”. Judging by the official photo, the design aesthetic of the space station is inspired by Alien: Isolation.

-They board the station in hopes of stealing some equipment, which turns out to be a bad idea.
-The station is swarming with Xenomorphs lurking in the dark, Facehuggers are also said to play an important role. Lots of suspense and action.
-Characters find out that WY recovered the Big Chap from Alien (1979) floating through space and brought it to the research station where they reverse-engineered its DNA, extracted the black-goo material, and used it to create their own Xenomorphs. Something happened and the station was swarmed with Xenomorphs.
Speculations:
-Characters might find some WY scientists/staff who survived.
-They might discover a hive in one part of the space station, with cocooned scientists.
-I’d be surprised if they also found the queen.
Same Nebula, same! I'll admit I was a bit apprehensive to be excited for this film when it was first announced, but after everything I've learned about it, I think it's going to satisfy BOTH the Prequel fans and the Purists of the original films. I love love love the deep conspiracies and diving deeper into Weyland-Yutani's experimentation on the Alien. The fact the original Xenomorph was discovered and acts as the basis for what Romulus becomes is as poetic as it gets.
This news definitely took my excitement to another level. Being of the camp who loved Prometheus, I'm beyond stoked to see this tie-in and to know the prequels were not cast aside! We may not get the conclusion to David's story, but the mythology lives on to be explored!
"Prometheus Strain" also, love that.
My excitement for this film is immeasurable.
I suspected there would be some connections to prequels, but nothing huge.
If I recall correctly, in Alien: The Cold Forge, it was stated that face-huggers inject a black goo-like substance into the hosts to create chest bursters.
To be fair, Ripley ALWAYS thought she had defeated the Alien but was ALWAYS disappointed to learn she merely delayed the inevitable. This remains ture to form hahaha
Scoop / Spoiler:
The name ROMULUS is the name of the Weyland-Yutani research station in the movie. The station is said to have been abandoned for some time by the time the film takes place. The station will be investigated by a crew of six scavengers, of which Rain (played by Cailee Spaeny) is the lead. Andy (David Jonsson) is Rain’s android brother. The Romulus station is described as circular / funnel shaped and was once a bustling research facility before something happened, leaving it abandoned for years.
Alien: Romulus will introduce new forms of, more ferocious Xenomorphs / Chestbursters and Facehuggers. This coincides with our previous report where it was acknowledged that the Facehuggers in Alien: Romulus have spiked barbs on their fingers - making the act of face-hugging way more graphic and gruesome.
The society Rain and Andy come from do not like Synthetic Androids vey much and there's more to this dynamic explored in the film's plot. Aesthetically speaking, the planet they come from is described as being "industrial grit". This will be a dramatic contrast to the more pristine aesthetic of Prometheus and Alien: Covenant's ships and environments.
Scoop / Spoiler: The original Xenomorph from Alien will be discovered by Weyland-Yutani and brought to the ROMULUS research station at the start of the film: Source [Confirmed]

Ripley be like after hearing this news

Wow indeed - very very exciting details imo!
so excited, so many news these days. I am glad Ash is somewhat related to this film
Cool. I think this is why Ridley was onboard with this movie...He knew they weren't going to throw out his work.
03/13/2024:
Weekend 19, Godzilla Minus One saw a 100% increase from the prior weekend due to its Japanese Academy Awards and Oscars success. It won 8 Japanese Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and the first Oscar in the franchise's history for Visual Effects. As a result, it scored a total of 6.06 Billion Yen (~$41 Million) and 3.96 Million in attendance. (Eiga Ranking)
Next weekend's numbers will be interesting as Toho has decided to expand Minus One's number of screens. (Toho)
First ever Godzilla movie to get an Oscar!
Cool! I can't wait to hear the soundtrack.
They didn't know Ripley's story until she started blabbing it all over the station....basically calling out the company for killing her crew mates.....it would have been obvious who killed her. Much easier to MIA her. Burkes backstory is unknown.......He could have been plotting a company coup or something. W-Y must have know how dangerous this mission was going to be....Why send such and important employee?
As far as I'm concerned, there are 2 entities; Synths and Weyland-Yutani. I'd say the Synthetic AI is always ahead.

First trailer for ‘ALIEN: ROMULUS’ is reportedly set to release this month. (Via: @DanielRPK)
We are ready.
Ummm I was under the impression that Burke was operating alone. Burke seemed more like a rogue operative, the Company just wanted to discredit Ripley, not kill her since they could have easily done that prior to reviving her at Gateway Station. So the test bed idea doesn't make sense.
Hadley's Hope did seem like a test bed. They sent the only witness (Ripley) and a 'green' company commander (Gorman)..It was bound to fail. If they wanted it to succeed...they'd have sent a massive fleet and taken everything alive.
Get Ripley killed and some company moron(Burke). Test out the 'product' and clear out the deadwood. Win-Win.
if shimo can freeze ghidorah once, she can do it again
not to be that guy, but I have a feeling this is going to be a stand-alone story that might reference the first movie or not. Disney seems dead set not to bring up Ripley or her storyline, so I think the movie is going to on the other side of colonized space dealing with a bunch of new people.
I will have to say no, knowing Hollywood they'll probably reveal it sometime in the fall
We will have to wait and see
The images are not from the trailer or movie as far as I'm aware, I suspect those are just placeholders / fan art.
I'm getting System Shock vibes seeing it may take place on a saucer-shaped Space Station
@MinecraftDinoKaiju
Well I think they would see the teenagers as worthy prey and thus would not be consider children in the eyes of a yautja. I mean yautja send their own teenagers to hunt the deadly xenomorph
This makes me so happy! Also love the fact Arnold Schwarzenegger announced the win, so perfect! History has been made!
I think Romulus will avoid much of what was established in Prometheus and Covenant. I more so believe it'll be connected to Alien: Isolation, so I suspect there will be links to that. However, I have a big suspicion that WY knew about the Xenomorph and the Derelict well before we think they did and the events of Alien, Isolation and Aliens are all connected and orchestrated with purpose behind the scenes by the corporation. Something much more sinister is at play, I bet.
The question is, does the film take place before or after the events of Alien: Isolation?
In Alien isolation, it was revealed that years after the events of Alien, the crew of Anesidora picked up the beacon, landed on LV-426 to investigate, found the derelict, and shut off the beacon to prevent anyone from finding the ship. The derelict remained untouched for some time until the events of Aliens when Ripley told the WY about it and Burke informed the colonists which led to the downfall.
I’ve seen some people already theorizing based on these “leaks” that the company might have gotten the Ovomorph eggs from either Covenant or Planet 4, if not from Derelict or anywhere else.
