Would you be equally disappointed if they were the massive bulky elephant men as depicted in the old Dark Horse Comics?
Yes to a lesser degree because they're comics (love them in general but not into/neutral to Aliens comics) but also and I think mainly because the whole point of the space jockey in the first place was to keep you guessing what it was and what happened. The ambiguity surrounding the derelict and its pilot that may or may not have been very old. The mystery and how the film draws you into it is one of the Alien's greatest strengths.
It seems that AVPs weren’t canon to begin with, they just existed in their bubbles as crossovers.
To the topic of the Alien TV series, the way I see it, Noah Hawley talked about different ideas for his TV show, and he didn’t find anything from Prometheus and Covenant useful so he stuck to the original 1979 Alien. Folks who dislike the prequels and want them retconned so badly must have read that as him trying to ignore them completely out of the canon.
Aliens Dark Descent didn’t use anything from Prometheus and Covenant from what I remember, and the writers, I think, acknowledged that prequels exist.
I feel like folks online read way too much into things, and twist words around. Even when Fede talked about using practical stuff in Romulus he meant filming practically as much in camera as possible instead of filming people wearing motion capture suits and lots of green screens like in a bunch of Marvel movies. People read that as “No cgi its all practical”, and then when the VFX breakdowns of the film dropped people went “Butttt Fede said noo cgiiii!!!! Wtffff!!!”.
that comment wasn't aimed at anybody except for marvel... I wish I could buy out the alien franchise and give the comics back to Dark Horse.

Engineers have returned to find David and his variants.
I do wonder if the Romulus sequel goes in the direction where Andy and Rain cross paths with David if we will see Engineers.

Exactly. Which is why I feel the Monster won't actually be at the forefront of the series. I expect most of season 1 to focus on the Androids / relationships between Synthetics and people and the Prodigy Corporation with murmurings of Xenomorphs throughout until the end of the series where they reveal the beast.
Since they've got plans for more than one season out the gate we know they can't reveal everything and culminate the story in one season.
Hopefully they don't demystify the beast too much.
The question is how much new you can add without demystifying the monster.
The retconning and continuity issues are indeed silly and/or make no sense, but after Prometheus reduced the ambiguous space jockey into a mere suit for tall, living roman statues, and David being the creator of the xenomorph as we know it, I just couldn't take it seriously anymore.
With that being said I'll view Alien Earth like I watch Terminator films, by disregarding the confusing timeline and watching them as individual stories while ignoring the connections.
I just wanted to add, ALIEN Earth is basically switching places with AVP 04.
Xenomorphs tend to grow really fast, the baby form was essentially it's chestburster phase.
So If the Alien TV series is its own thing, then its non-canon and thus can be ignored.
As much as I am delighted that AVP 04 is getting retconned to oblivion (Prometheus and Covenant had already did that) it still does not change my opinion of Alien Earth. I believe its going to be a total disaster at a continuity perspective:
1. ignoring the alien prequels
2. having xenomorphs on earth prior to the events of the nostromo and hadley's hope
3. focusing the story on transhumans rather than the titular monster
from baby to an humanoid monster in no time ..thats not very realistic ..secondely he dont look like an hybrid from alien ..he is like the engineer of prometheus.the creators its a bit a mistake..
I meant to say this yesterday but since as of the past couple hours you can watch, a new roughly 10 second teaser has dropped. Looks pretty neat
Sounds good! I wonder how Earth 2120 will be depicted. Dark and dirty? Modestly advanced? Jaws 19 hologram? Hopefully we'll get that teaser soon!
Looks like I may be an outlier here, but the praetomorph from covenant was my favorite. It may just be that iconic shot of the alien staring into the camera, but that shot is chilling to me. The neomorphs I thought were equally as brilliant, and probably the scariest iteration of any alien in any movie.
I think both Covenant and Romulus should get a sequel, kind of like what they are doing with Predator and Prey
Yeah I'll give it that much for sure. This just in though

Interesting coming from the guy who said "The beast in cooked " after it came out. More recently expressed disappointment in doing Covenant instead of Blade Runner 2049
But Romulus was light years better than The Force Awaken though.
Oh yeah, I even wrote about this genus in my Gojiverse fanfiction
I know I'm in the minority on that one lol. The more i think about Romulus the more I'm disappointed with it. It felt like watching The Force Awakens all over again, just the safest movie possible constantly reminding you of the good ol' days.
You're welcome, check out the latest one and download if you want, it's about the Alien Romulus prequel novel. They're doing a good job IMO
I would rather have a sequel to Alien Romulus instead of another David movie, but that's just how I look at it. Alien Romulus was OK, better than the prequels so it was OK, even though it could have been better.
another great episode thanks for sharing!
If by anti-sexism, you mean all genders are treated equally (both men and women) and not Women rules and men drool then sure.
However I do not trust modern Hollywood with delivering meaningful messages without being tainted by the W-word.
Sir Ridley still has that creative spark it seems, and while it's certainly nice to read about the positive entusiasm from the aged legend, I'll take it with a grain of salt.
If however Ridley decides to direct yet another film set in the Alien universe, and Fassbender is asked and signs up for it, I'm certain we'll see the flute-playing, philosophical android once again. Blade Runner replicants, Raised by Wolves androids and the emphasis on David and his poems about creation; Ridley sure likes his synthetics.
As for the engineers, well they remain a question mark. While hardly fleshed out in Prometheus despite being a core aspect of its grandiose story, it didn't exactly help their lore by throwing them out the window in Covenant. Bam, nuked from the story. On to the next one.
The emphasis seemed to be on David who, while an ambiguous figure at times ultimately turned out to be a classic (and very emotional) world-conqueror villain through and through as he set course for Origae-6 with evil intentions in a grim ending. Now what?
While anything is possible I just hope we'll simply get an entertaining sci-fi horror film from start to finish and with Ridley Scott at the helm again (if he returns) it'll at the very least be a beautiful film visually. Can the magical cosmic horror from Alien and Aliens ever be created again? I believe so considering the masterpiece George Miller created with Mad Max Fury Road for instance. It might take a kitchen full of the best and most motivated chefs who're willing to corporate and encourage each other, but I believe it can be done.
Yeah the alternate scene didn't make much sense given how did the xenomorph know exactly where Bjorn was?
I would like to see or hear what happened to David for closure reasons
I hope that it has nothing to do with David, I would vomit if David the android is involved.
That's good news! I hope the prequel trilogy can be finished by combining it with the next sequel to Alien: Romulus to include David in the sequel to Romulus where Rain and Andy will meet David.
ehh i dont hear it
Oh god Camp Cretaceous was the worst thing to happen to the Jurassic Park series since JP3's Rex vs Spino battle.
good, take your time with this one.
What does that have to do with what he's asking?
sites kinda dead :(
but might be a possibility since there are BRADS from camp cretaceous
i hope they don't. Robot dinosaurs are a no no
