We've great news for fans of mature science-fiction who are fed up with all the family friendly fare that we've been treated to as of late: Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve confirmed to Screen Daily that the film will be rated R, just like its predecessor.
This bold decision was likely due to the success of Deadpool, which earned a total worldwide gross of $782,612,155, making it the highest grossing R rated film of all time. The combined star power of both Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford means that Blade Runner 2049 will likely still pull in huge audiences, regardless of its rating.
Also starring Robin Wright, Jared Leto and Dave Bautista, Blade Runner 2049 will be released on October 6, 2017.
