Skull Temple Concept Artwork for Pacific Rim - Speculation

With the release of some new official [b]Pacific Rim Movie[/b] concept art, which can be [url=http://www.pacificrim-movie.net/news/583]viewed here[/url], came an odd looking image, depicting what [i]TotalFilm[/i] claims to be a "[b]Skull Temple[/b]" fused to the surrounding buildings in what looks to be down town, Japan. Any thoughts on what this "temple" could posses? [center] [url=http://www.pacificrim-movie.net/gallery/view/img/112][img]http://www.pacificrim-movie.net/media/pacificrim_official_movie_concept_artwork.jpg[/img][/url] [/center] It's certainly interesting and is no doubt linked to the Kaiju's arrival in Pacific Rim. But what could its significance be? At first, I thought it looked like an oddly shaped egg. But the original source claims it to be a skull temple. So, a skull temple it is. Any thoughts?
