Gale Ann Hurd, producer of Terminator franchise, Hulk and Aliens, to name a few, is working a very similar movie to Pacific Rim. ''The new film will follow a young man who is recruited to be the lead pilot for the Super Robot Gaiking. But when an alien invasion threatens to take over the Earth, the young man is the planet’s last line of defense" http://www.giantfreakinrobot.com/scifi/gale-anne-hurd-develop-movie-based-japanese-giant-robot-anime-gaiking.html I am think this might be bad box office timing and perhaps too much to live up to compared to Pacific Rim but hey, you never know!

It's just a thing about cinema that for every good movie made you get two or more box office turds. Everything about Pac Rim sparkles. Looks like good story, good acting, good CGI. I don't get that same sense with these other productions.
