Resident evil 2 remake T-103/Mr.X analysis
Dark Nebula
StaffRespectedOct-23-2018 12:49 PMThe hype is real, Resident Evil 2 remake is scheduled to be released on January 25, 2019.
I wanted to specifically talk about my boi Mr.X.
In the original Resident Evil 2, released in 1998, Mr.X is a tyrant T-103 model (dubbed T-00 on his capsule he was dropped in) sent by the umbrella corp. to retrieve the G sample. He appears in the B scenario of the game.
He is bald, stands around 7 feet tall and wears gloves, boots, and a green trench coat. He is extremely strong and unlike other B.O.W. he has a self-regenerative ability. If his power limiter is destroyed, he will mutate into his much deadlier super tyrant form.
Now onto the remake. This is how he looks in the trailer.
A lot of people (myself included) upon seeing him in the E3 trailer had mixed reactions about his new look. Especially about his fedora.
But after carefully analyzing him, my opinion has changed.
I like his new look.
He has no eyebrows and eyelashes, unlike his original design in RE2 and in the umbrella chronicles, in the remake, his face is wrinkled and has pupils. Based on one shot from the trailer, he looks huge.
If I'm not mistaken, he's not wearing a trench coat, but instead an Ulster/greatcoat with a shoulder cape. So that's why they gave him a fedora.
(screenshot from the trailer)
A lot of people have pointed out that he looks like Dolph Lundgren.
Did umbrella hire Dolph Lundgren?
He reminds me of J from Heat Guy J.
Also, he briefly appeared in the story trailer. If you slow down the part when G2 Birkin attacks Claire and Sherry in the elevator, Mr.X could be seen dropping on the floor after Birkin had previously stabbed him (as seen at the end of the E3 trailer).
(Mr.X can be seen between Birkin's legs)
A lot of people speculate that's the end of him, but I highly doubt that. Why would they show him getting killed off in the trailer? Besides, as mentioned above, in the original RE2 he can regenerate in his normal form and he even survived being completely submerged in a molten steel (1425-1540 Celsius hot). I'm pretty sure he will appear in the end and we will see him in his super tyrant form.

MemberLegendOct-23-2018 9:33 PMI played the crap out of RE 2 and love that the re make is happening. I am not a fan of the new Tyrant only because it is stupid for that creature to wear a hipster hat.
Maybe it is a marketing ploy. If you beat the game on Hard mode, you could open new Tyrant hats like the backwards Monster Truck baseball hat, a sombrero, or a kippah.
Tyrant wouldn't bother with a f$%king hat. It should stay bald and mean.

StaffRespectedOct-25-2018 4:34 PMI actually prefer his new design.
His original RE2 design is simple as it gets: just a mean, tall bald guy in a trench coat. And that's it.
In the remake, I think they changed his look to fit into the atmosphere because they completely rebuild the entire game. Hell, when I first saw Chris Redfield in RE7, I didn't know that's him until he introduced himself.
In the original RE2, the halls and rooms were mostly lit. In the remake, based on what we've seen in the trailers, some halls and rooms are dark and poorly lit, so you can imagine what would be like being chased by him in a dark hall/room. I can't wait to see him bursting through walls.
He reminded me of that serial killer from the 19th century, Jack the Ripper, who terrorized London and killed prostitutes at night.

MemberLegendOct-29-2018 8:41 PMIt's not a bad look but I just think the hat would get knocked off while crashing through walls and such:
BTW- I think they got that scene from Mr Koolaide:
OH YEAH!!!

StaffRespectedOct-31-2018 12:55 PMLooks like Leon and Claire are getting their classic costumes. They will be in-game unlockable.

Maybe Mr.X will also get his classic costume, who knows.
I was analyzing him and just noticed he had a bullet hole near his eye, right underneath his fedora.

MemberLegendOct-31-2018 2:46 PMGood catch. I think I had to use acid and explosive rounds to drop it although I have seen videos of some hardcore players do it with the hand gun.
Its regenerative properties remind me a bit of The Thing and even Walter in some ways.
This game would be a good reason to buy a PS4 if it is on that platform (I haven't checked).

StaffRespectedNov-02-2018 12:09 PMYes, it will be on Ps4, Xbox One, and PC.
I think he will function in the game like Jack Baker from RE7.
He might while slowly chasing you, stomp on things, destroy some furniture and zombies that are in his way. Then after a certain amount of gunshots, he will fall on the ground and remain dormant. After a certain amount of time, he will regenerate, wander around and attack you at certain locations.
I think his entrance will be completely different in the remake. Not showing his capsule being dropped from the helicopter might add to the suspense. I can imagine the scenario something like this:
As you are walking through dark halls you hear the helicopter fly over, and then something falling through the ceiling 10-15 rooms away, on other location. When you get to that location you will see a smashed hole in the roof and opened capsule smashed to the ground. Leon comments:
"****, a capsule. It was probably dropped by that helicopter. Looks like something came out of it. Something big."
That's just my imagination running wild.

StaffRespectedNov-04-2018 11:00 AMMy rough tablet sketch of Mr.X, based on one of the screenshots of him from the trailer, just extended it. Sketched it using the middle finger.
I'm just guessing he's wearing a belt and a belt pack.

MemberLegendNov-06-2018 1:13 PMNice drawing and I like the idea of hearing the helicopter scene instead of seeing it etc...It will also be interesting to see Dr Birkin mutate after the G virus injection. That was a mean creature and a big part of Claire's scenario.

StaffRespectedNov-09-2018 11:37 AMBirkin's G1 and G2 forms look awesome.
I can't wait to see his third form. My favorite one.
I also can't wait to see my boi Mr.X's super tyrant form in its full glory. That dude was the hardest boss in the whole game (at least in my opinion).

There's also Mr.X in Josie and the *****cats, cartoon from the 70s. Besides the same names, both wear similar clothes.
