Why The Sea?

MemberNoobSep-30-2012 12:18 AM2341 Views9 RepliesWhy will the monster be coming from the sea and not space? With the robotic suits, you would expect them to come from space, am I wrong?
Do you like the idea of them coming from the sea or would prefer them coming from space?

Maybe they originate from the stars and now reside in the ocean. There are some theories
and accounts of ETs and UFOs rising from the sea.

There is as much weird stuff on our own planet as there is in outer space, so I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to imagine that those things had been down there for years and years. It's a different approach that I for one am glad to see :-D

I personally like the approach of an "alien" invasion from within the realm of Earth than to see more aliens descending from the heavens. There's so much we still don't know about life in the ocean. Just because we haven't seen anything enormous and terrifying during our descents into the deep doesn't mean those things...haven't seen us! ;)

Yeah, I have always loved the sea, and I am just fascinated by the strange animals that live in it. I think it was a good choice to make these monsters come from the ocean, as like jujutsuka said we have no idea what realy could be living in the vastness of the sea.

I agree with the others the largest animals ever to live on this planet were not the dinosaurs but sea creatures like gaint squid and blue whales. But a lot of life is unknown in the oceans.Look how big the colossus squid is and it's was just discovered a few years ago.

I don't know if it makes a difference to me as long as the sea based monsters has some sort of reasonable explanation to strart the movie plot.
The Abyss come to mind of something that I just didn't care for the ocean based storyline.

I have mixed opinions on the Abyss. On hand it has beautiful visuals, but on the other the movie just doesn't have much despite it's length. It's not Cameron's best, yet I still think it hold up well today.

Something new and original, somewhat! Everything always comes from space and it certainly throws humans for a leap as they seemed unprepared.

Almost all Kaiju traditionally attack cities from the sea. It makes perfect sense from a tactical perspective. What better way to move something that large around undetected?
