Was The Last Jedi a deliberate homage to Britishness versus American?

I enjoy the cultural aspect of Rey being British, because it appears to be the underlying fuel to the power of Kylo Ren's story

I don't know but that is not important to me since her character is of no interest. Kill her in the next movie to compensate for the ****ty ending that Luke got.
