The Creatures of Planet Draco

Planet Draco. One of the first planets ever created within the Tyrannus Universe. Ancient and Primal, the planet is home to many strange and beautiful creatures that have evolved over millions of years. Join me on this seven part series, where we will be taking a look at the Creatures of Planet Draco.

Part 1: Beasts of the Land

Ember Tiger

Size: 6.0 ft

Weight: 800 lb

Diet: Carnivorous 

Status: Endangered

Info: Planet Draco's most well known and dangerous creatures. The Ember Tiger is a large, saber toothed cat, that resembles a cross between a Smilodon and a Siberian Tiger. These large predators are normally found within the forests and prairies of planet Draco's three largest continents. Despite the fact that these creatures are one of Draco's top predators, they have been hunted to near extinction by Draconian Hunters, but thankfully, they are now illegal to hunt.

Terror Vulture

Size: 8.0 ft

Weight: 800 lb

Diet: Carnivorous

Status: Rare

Info: The Terror Vulture is a large predatory bird, that resembles a cross between the Terror Bird and a Vulture. These creatures are known to live in the prairies of Draco's first and second largest continents. They are considered to be one of the most dangerous creatures to live on the planet. They use the large talons on their feet and their large beaks to tear their prey apart and devour them. Despite being such dangerous creatures, they themselves are also hunted by both Draconian hunters and the Ember Tiger.

Iguanasaur

Size: 3 meters

Weight: 4 tons

Diet: Herbivore

Status: Common

Info: The Iguanasaur is a large dinosaurian creature, that resembles a cross between a green Iguana and an Iguanodon. These creatures are known to live within the swamplands of Draco's third largest continent, but sometimes they can be found wondering the forests as well. These creatures use are able to rear up on their hind legs in order to reach the branches of trees in order to feed from them. 

Gorirant 

Size: 5.5 ft

Weight: 360 lb

Diet: Omnivorous

Status: Common

Info: The Gorirant is a large, gorilla like ape, that lives in the redwood forests of Draco's first largest continent. These large apes are mostly harmless and will do everything they can do avoid conflict, but if they must defend themselves, they will use their shear brute strength to crush their attackers. These creatures are illegal to hunt, because of the fact that they share 80% of DNA with the Draconians.

Part 2: Demons of the Deep

Cyclops Shark

Size: 80 ft

Weight: 170 Tons

Diet: Carnivorous 

Status: Rare

Info: The second largest known aquatic predator to exist in planet Draco's history. The Cyclops Shark closely resembles a goblin shark, but with a single, large eye in the middle of it's head. The creature lives in a constant state of starvation, they will devour anything, including members of their own kind, to satiate the never ending hunger that they feel.

Sand Eel

Size: 20 ft

Weight: 23 lb 

Diet: Carnivorous 

Status: Common

Info: Living within the shallows of ocean lies one of planet Draco's most bizarre creatures. The Sand Eel resembles a mixture of a flounder and a moray eel. These creatures are known for burying themselves in the sand and attacking anything that moves in front of them. When prey comes within their reach- they burst out of the sand and latch onto their victim with a second pair of jaws that shoots out and pulls whatever they caught into their stomach.

Octosquid

Size: 60 ft

Weight: 1 Ton

Diet: Carnivorous

Status: Rare

Info: Haling from the deepest parts of the ocean. The Octosquid is a large, nocturnal cephalopod, that looks like a mixture of a giant squid and a blue ringed octopus. The ends of their tentacles are tipped with a spike that is filled with a type of venom that will paralyze their prey. 

Reef Crab

Size: 20 inch

Weight: 70 lb 

Diet: Carnivorous

Status: Common

Info: The Reef Crab is a large, dog sized invertebrate that hides within the coral reefs. The shells of these large crustaceans are colored and textured to look like stone so they can blend in with their surroundings. they even cover their shells with coral, sea anemones and other various other sea life, to better blend in with their surroundings.

White Whale

Size: 95 ft

Weight: 180 tons

Diet: Carnivorous

Status: Endangered

Info: The last species of aquatic mammals. The White Whale looks identical to the blue whale, except they are slightly shorter and lighter than the blue whale. The White Whale is known for calling out to other whales at a frequency of 52 herts. Despite being the largest species of aquatic animals to live on Draco, they have still been hunted to near extinction by both fishermen and by the Cyclops Shark.

 

Part 3: Rulers of the Sky

 Giant Snow Owl

Size: 5 feet

Wingspan: 6.7 meters

Weight: 70 pounds

Diet: Carnivore

Status: Rare

Info: One of the rarest species of bird on planet Draco, the Giant Snow Owl is considered to be one of the last species of flying birds that are still around. These nocturnal creatures are usually kept by several of the rulers on Draco as either pets or to send messages to each other.

Sky Manta

Size: 12 inches

Wingspan: 18 inches

Weight: 10 pounds

Diet: Herbivore 

Status: Common 

Info: The Flying Manta is one of the strangest creatures to ever live on Planet Draco. These bizarre creatures resemble a manta ray, however these creatures are not fish, instead these animals are more closely related to reptiles. 

Blood Hornet

Size: 1 foot 

Wingspan: 2 feet

Weight: 15 pounds

Diet: Carnivore

Status: Common

Info: An insect that some believe crawled out of a nightmare, the Blood Hornet is considered to be one of the most dangerous creatures to live on Draco. These deadly predators resemble a cross between a mosquito and a hornet. The Blood Hornet's primary weapon is a stinger on it's abdomen that can inject a poison so toxic, that it can kill a full grown man in mere minutes.

Part 4: Dwellers beneath the Sands

Star-Nosed Shrew

Size: One Foot

Weight: 10 pounds

Diet: Carnivore

Status: Rare 

Info: Within the deserts of Draco lives the planet's last surviving species of burrowing mammal, the Star-Nosed Shrew. These small mammals live their entire lives within burrows, only coming up to the surface to escape from predators.

Thorny Worm Lizard

Side: 15 Inches

Weight: 9 Ounces 

Diet: Omnivore

Status: Common

Info: Another one of Draco's strangest inhabitants, the Thorny Worm Lizard resembles a hybrid between a Worm Lizard, and a Horny Devil Lizard. These odd creatures are known for having a toxic bite, that they use paralyze their prey. 

Red Ant-Lion

Size- 2 Feet

Weight- 15 Pounds

Diet- Carnivore

Status- Rare

Info- Of all the creatures that lives within Draco's deserts, the Red Ant-Lion is the deadliest. These dangerous creatures create a pit within the sand and waits for any creature that is unfortunate to fall in, and uses a powerful venom to kill their prey.
