Dawn of the Planet of the Apes should get a shout-out. That's an amazing cinematic achievement. But Alien for it's sheer influence on science fiction from that time on. It's a major influence on just about every science fiction film since. Same with Jurassic Park, Kubrick. The Matrix has been hugely influential as well. And well, Pitch Black/Riddick because I just have to give a shout-out to it. It is to me what Star Wars is to most other people, haha..
