As I said on the Yamarashi thread, this novel has a lot more material than the movie does and has bios of all the characters that weren't ever told before. There are also data bits on the Jaegers themselves and their past kills of kaiju the movie never gave. I did find out the Drift has a bit of a draw back after you and your co pilot leave it. Bits of yourselves are still stuck in both bodies and you both end up being like twins for the rest of your lives. Finishing each other's sentences and such. The drift does that to every pilots after a long amount of time.

MemberNoobJul-20-2013 8:30 PMIn the novel, the Drift is mentioned to have a sort of backwash affect on the mind. Both people end up having the other person's quirks or physical traits, habits, etc The Jaeger pilots have this issue too. You end up becoming like twins that finish each other's sentences or end up in a tie in a chess match. All this due to prolonged Drifting over time.
