MemberNoobJul-01-2013 6:39 PMSince the Precursors are from another universe and sending their bioweapons to Earth. Then you factor in the 20 year Earth time span between kaiju attacks. Wouldn't it be less than a few days or so for the aliens? Afterall this is a wormhole they opened between dimensions and time there works differently than here.
For the aliens time is slower and when they find out a kaiju dies, months later in their time they have a new one to send out. The concept art of their universe got me thinking as one painting has two of the aliens next to an assembly line of Knifehead kaiju ready to go.
Hmm, if I could continue this movie into a series I'd use Falling Skies when you see a face to face between one of the aliens that is captured for information. Similar to when the fish heads, the so called Overlords of Falling Skies who control the invasion and Skitter armies. You get one of the Precursors and maybe it will give up information to the humans under the right conditions.

AdminAtmanJul-01-2013 7:11 PMWell, Charlie Day's character is interested in securing a Kaiju brain in one of the recent movie clips, so it's possible that's what they're trying to do. Of course his line "If you wanna stop them, you have to understand them" further hints at this motive.

I want to see that! If you can somehow find a scan of that particular page, do share it. That sounds awesome.

MemberNoobJul-01-2013 7:36 PMWho knows what Newt sees that ends up scaring him so badly he panics. A photo in Men, Machines, and Monsters does show Newt post linking and he is freaked out with his fellow scientist trying to calm him down.

MemberNoobJul-02-2013 12:52 PMIf I had to guess, I would say the potential exploration of the Anteverse, and possible capture of one of the Precursor's may be a major plot line for the second film. I'll be curious to see how that works out, as Guillermo has said the second will be much different.

I think the most obvious reason Newt Drifts with a Kaiju brain is to find out where the Breach is. After all, the Pacific Ocean is FAR too vast to search. And there has to be some explanation for how Gipsy and Striker get dropped off at the Breach to face Scunner, Raiju, and Slattern.
Also, in that concept art, you clearly see Gipsy just hanging around.

MemberNoobJul-02-2013 7:04 PMThat's a very good point TheDude. The only other option I could see for discovering the Breach, is if they were able to track the creatures down as soon as they came out.

We know each Kaiju has a specific Target unless of course the Target is "unidentified", in which case i think the target could be the Shatterdome or the Rift itself. Since we know the Kaiju have a Target It would suggest that the precursors are sending the Kaiju when they want and are not subject to a time gap.

The Precursors are shown, and spoken of in the art guide. They are the Kaiju's creators.
