A couple non Ridley Scott movies have done the Tyrell easter egg thing already, so no it isn't to be taken seriously. De lauzirika (producer of prometheus blu ray) recently stated that the Blade Runner/Prometheus connection on the blu ray was an easter egg for the fans (notice it was more of an implied connection than an objective/literal connection...no name mentioned etc.). De lauzirika said that he, rather than Scott, came up with the aforementioned connection and that it shouldnt necessarily be considered canon (though ridley didnt object to said easter egg). In "Aliens", when Sigourney was being interviewed about the events on the Nostromo, you see the crew's pictures on a screen in the backgroud. On Dallas's it says he worked for Tyrell *(note the nod to screenwriters on it as well, Seymour-Cobb Genetics Corp. and the U.S.C.S. Shusett ) In "Soldier", we discover the character Todd was present at Tannhauser Gate, which Roy Batty mentioned in his death soliloquy. Is a world dominated by large range of corporations, Tyrell Co., Weyland&Yutani, with commercial interests in biogenetic porposes, but unable to facing the threat beyond space, in this case David, against Prometheus Engineer. Peter Weyland and Eldon Tyrell, both represent man's ego. I always considered both Tyrell and Weyland as Frankenstein... creating beings as if they were gods. I know that Frankenstein is one of Scott's favorite books and both characters don't believe their "creations" had souls (as Weyland states and all memory is given (not experienced) to all the replicants. To further the simile the three men create something even they themselves cannot predict or quantify. As for the Blade Runner universe and the Prometheus/Alien universe merging... please No. I never thought a Blade Runner sequel would ever match the original (perfection is rarely obtained, matched or even surpassed)and it would churn up a beautifully choked, desperate and retrofit world if another were added! (look what happened to Alien and Predator when they merged... Blade Runner and Prometheus are deeper films with their sights aimed at the notion of SOUL and further cross bridging would drag Blade Runner, Alien and Prometheus down)

Both Prometheus and Blade Runner have similar themes but the two could never be united as one. I can certainly see an opening where the "gods" from Blade Runner and Prometheus could meet, but I believe such a film would not be well received by fans. I personally would find such a concept difficult to accept. I like the idea of material from different movies popping up in scenes (such as Dallas's details working for Tyrell Corp. in "Aliens"). I find those sorts of references clever and comical. Such details also indicate to me that there is respect between directors, writers and artists in the movie industry....

I think it's cool to have little details crossover as homages, but I think that each universe should stay independent. Have to agree with everything Punx said, so well put Punxman!

I really want Guy Pearce to be in Blade Runner... I dont see anywhere that the film would suffer or be damaged by having Weyland and his company play a part in the new sequel. As long as we only have the replicant/android motif then i think it works well.

**Update** I would simply like to add this here ( I forgot back when it was released LOL), it is a direct quote from Charles de Lauzirika, the man who created the supposed communique written by Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce), which made some pretty obvious allusions to Blade Runner's Eldon Tyrell. He apparently got the idea from fans online trying to connect the dots between the two acclaimed sci-fi universes, and thought he would have a little fun to see if anyone would catch on. Of course, everyone did: "That was me having fun and being cutesy. I wrote all that stuff. I actually said this at the press conference they had in London, which is that if it's in the film, it's canon. I would argue that the viral pieces that are included in the Peter Weyland Files are canon just because they originated with Ridley and Damon Lindelof. I would say those, to some degree, are canon. But anything else - especially these which are kind of like little cute, embedded text graphics on the menus - I wouldn't take those too seriously. It's just meant to be an in-universe framework for those viral pieces." "As a Blade Runner fan, and because there's been so much talk before this even occurred with people on the Internet speculating that maybe Alien and Blade Runner and Prometheus could all exist in the same universe, it was just more of a wink at that. Absolutely nothing to be taken seriously. I mean, I sent it to Ridley and he had no comment. [Laughs] So, it's just icing on top of icing. It's not the cake. It's a fun, little side thing that's very superficial. And, by the way, it in no way officially establishes that it's Blade Runner because, if a lawyer were to comb through that, there's no reference to Tyrell or anything in Blade Runner. It's just a very lightly intentioned joke." So as you can see, it is NOT canon, it was just something he thought would be fun to add to the DVD. it was a rumor before the DVD Prometheus release, Paradise I think will be going before BR, is a stagnates project for lack of ideas. What do you think?

LOL ...I think FOX would have something to say (maybe even legal-action); if they went as far to state, that "Blade Runner" was officially fused to the ALIEN film-franchise. Although, this is obviously a thought in Ridley's mind. How serious is another question. Officially ...it can't be serious at all. I don't think at this point, there is any benefit to tie them together; however, that's just my own opinion. And yes Montesco, the "Prometheus" sequel(s) might delay a BR-sequel. I'd hate to wait until 2019 for it. :I Thanks Svanya + Montesco. ^_^ S:)

@Montesco; Indeed, a Prometheus sequel is in the works so we will have to be patient for Blade Runner. Article on Prometheus sequel: Prometheus Sequel Script In The Works!

@Svanya Hampton is back of the plot, but there was a refusal by a recent scriptwriter, the news you posted here long time ago, so the project was tight again. ):

@Montesco; Sorry I just saw your response. No, Scott Z. Burns never refused to do it, he just hasn't the time. There is a script already, Ridley is working with the original writer. I posted some news. :D

Svanya, I just read your news scoop, hopefully Hampton is back, my bet after reading this, is by Zhora, Joanna Cassidy deserves a role on the film, she is a wonderful woman.

@Montesco; Yeah its Hampton I think. There was news months ago that he was working on the script.

As a movie fan I can see and accept that not all frachises need to be inter-linked through-out each other and together ALL of the time. To expect so much would be ludicrus after a while like you might as well want to cross Pretty Woman with Blade Runner or Prometheus. I can see it is an inside easter-egg thing and have commented in the past that it seems like it is there, however I can say that I wouldn't mind if they officially did or did not connect them in any future undertaking/film sequel/prequels such as for Blade Runner or Prometheus. I wouldn't mind to see anything if they did though as I am willing to get onboard with those type of implied references. There would be legal matters such as lawyers having a legal position on cross-pollinating both of the franchises for what ever reason. This really is a nod to Ridley Scott more than anything as he was the intellectual force ultimately behind both of the films concepts and these continual easter-egg comments and references really center around him and are meant to highlight him more than anything else and that is a good thing. If any future attempt to cross-pollinate the franchises was undertaken I would like to see it and see what they would be attempting to imply or get at if they chose to pursue that line of action but am equally happy to enjoy all of the films as currently seperate and independant as they currently are. I would at least like to see what the space-lane/space travel universe is like in Blade Runner though. Earth has at least been explored all but briefly in varying films within the Alien franchise and Prometheus but no visuals have ever been committed to film to explain and explore the outer reaches of space travel within the context of Blade Runner so that is a concept I would at least like to see explored in a potential Blade Runner sequel/prequel at some point in the film begining/flash forward/flash back or something that is relevant to the theme of the new film itself. So that is something to at least consider...
