Nowadays we are pretty much inundated with different versions of movies, extras, deleted scenes, book of the film etc, etc. Isn't it a pity that there has never been a book solely devoted to Ridley's Ridleygrams & storyboards?

His artwork for ALIEN, Blade Runner & Prometheus would be a sure fire hit with fans of Sci-Fi & graphic art. Lets hope that one day this will come to pass!

Well I'd be more than willing to fork out more of my hard earned cash for this, even if no one else seems interested! LOL

Ridley Scott's story boards are incredible. The man is such an inspiration. I have all but two of his films (his first film and Robin Hood) and on the special features all of the actors talk about how nice it was to work with Ridley. It was interesting to contrast Alien and Aliens because the actors who worked with Ridley Scott said what a pleasure it was, and the actors who worked with James Cameron said how difficult things were at times. (Taking nothing away from James Cameron - he has directed some amazing films...) Another favourite director of mine is David Lynch. Lynch and Scott have several things in common. They are both amazing artists. The directors have also been very supportive of the actors who have worked on their films; and both directors have this amazing ability to see details and visions of their films before a camera starts rolling. One of my favourite storys about Ridley during the making of Blade Runner was about the newspapers that he had printed. Apparently Ridley Scott had these newspapers designed with the current date (date when the story takes place) and he put them in stands on the street corners of the sets. Not one of those newspapers was caught on camera; Ridley had them made to provide realism for the actors....

I'm a fan of David Lynch too! I doubt if there's ever been a more detail oriented director than Ridley. As you say he gives his cast & crew so much to work from & with. Blade Runner is a work of art. The layers upon layers of fine detail are just mindblowingly realistic. His perfection & vision inspires everyone involved. The Duellists is an early example of his ability to create beauty through a lens. It includes a special feature, with director Kevin Reynolds talking to him about how much that film inspired him to become a film maker.

Both Ridley and James Cameron are talented artists and draw a lot of their own story boards.

I have read that Ridley Scott and James Cameron have a mutual respect for each other. The two are the great film makers of their generation. I was spell-bound when I saw a doco on the making of Cameron's The Abyss. Forty percent of the film was shot under water, and in those scenes the actors were in their diving gear surrounded by over fifty crew and safety divers. James Cameron was there the whole time using sign lanuage to signify action etc....
