MemberNoobFeb-13-2013 10:57 AMHave to say Snorks, it was a big let down for me. Like i said in the other thread, being on LV426 and in the Derelict were good but they werent enough to make the game as a whole any good. 2 out of 5.

MemberNoobFeb-13-2013 10:59 AMI am glad there is a place to submit our opinions of this game. We did wait a long time and all of us had high expectations but to provide constructive criticismm my biggist complaint, and this prevents me from getting very far, is I can't instantly save after a particularly tough fire fight, with the result that I wind up fighting the same thing over and over and not making the progress that I would make if they allowed instant saves. Secondly ONeal, the fellow Colonial Marine doesnt seem to know where we are supposed to go and keeps going around in circles subjecting me to certain alien death. It just gets exhausting. I am sure seasoned gamers would have no problem killing all the aliens and moving ahead but combining the above two problems with the gun that seems to change away from a pulse rifle to an assault rifle even though you have changed the clip and verified that there is enough ammo and you get the picture. Its an exercise in frustration and all you have to show for it is being dead with an alien standing over you gloating! OK thats my opinion so far...

MemberContributorFeb-13-2013 8:30 PMi have gotten through 3 or 4 or even 5 mission(idk exactly how many) and so far am actually impressed, except the lack of help from your teammates when you nedd it most and the melee. it is, so far, impossible for me to time when to melee an attacking xenomorph to reload and when i miss the melee, i get hit once then swarmed. As for multiplayer, it isnt that bad, but xenos dont go down that easy(maybe that;s just me) and i have to get used the third person while playing as an aline, but it isn't that bad. i would give it a 3 out of . ALSO, it would be cool if anyone finds any easter eggs, point them out here. please! thx

XENO inside ME
MemberNoobFeb-14-2013 1:36 AMI I am such a big fan of the ALIEN Universe, I really loved Prometheus and ALIENS. I've been waiting for a good game like this for awhile, especially since the AVP game wasn't so good. I got this game 95% for the Multiplayer so I was expecting a great and fun game, and didn't mind if campaign wasn't great.
Campaign mode, as much as I have played has been fun. It is too slow at times and a bit complicated other times, but I liked it. It was fun and I look forward to continuing it to see where it goes and see if it answers any questions.
As for Multiplayer, I would say that it has surpassed my expectations. I love playing it, I have so much fun, no bad reviews for multiplayer from me. Being able to customize the Xenos to your liking is great, being able to play as a character from the movies is great, the assortment of weapons are great, being able to customize your weapons is really great, being able to use Pulse Rifle/Flamethrower combo weapon is really fun, but most of all being able to play as Xenos and Marines in the ALIENS Universe in such a fun, creative, and cool customizable way is what makes this game AWESOME. The Multiplayer has so much great aspects to it that it is my favorite game ever. Now I can't wait to see how the DLC's expand on Multiplayer.

MemberNoobFeb-14-2013 7:08 AM1/5 I have never been more dissapointed in a game before, well maybe Duke Nukem Forever. Which was also made by Gearbox! Way to go guys, you ruined yet another dream of mine.

MemberNoobFeb-14-2013 2:30 PMI bought and beat this within a day and a half.. It was awful in my opinion, I waited 5 years for this game. The graphics are terrible and at some points could be considered x-box worthy. At one point I was wasting Xeno's on the ceiling who died and magically floated. Gearbox recently made a post stating the game was only 15% their work, the multiplayer side.
XENO inside ME
MemberNoobFeb-14-2013 3:58 PM@Svanya, Yeah I really love the games MP, I'm so impressed with it. What a great take of ALIENS into MP.
Does anyone else have reviews about MP?
You're all saying that the game is a disappointment, but all your reviews are only describing campaign. I too would say that campaign wasn't that impressive, but MP is so awesome. Did no one else play any MP before generalizing the whole game as awful?

Admin2KFeb-14-2013 4:51 PM@XENO inside ME ; No most have opted to do the regular campaign first, also to unlock stuff in multiplayer you need to do the campaign.
@nostromo001;It wasn't spoilers it was about gameplay. He asked a question about a section of the game he was stuck on, but he gave a lot of details that could be considered spoilers for those that haven't gotten far. Here, i'll post a decent walkthrough I found.

MemberContributorFeb-14-2013 11:49 PMi have upped my grade of 3/5 to 3.5/5(big difference) because the multiplayer seems promising, the little i have played, and the campaign, to me, is actually interesting. im not dissecting every detail like any of the movies, but its pretty solid to me. the thing i think people are forgettign is that it is incredibly hard to live up to alines with a video game because we need tomake it a video game. its a hands on experience, not like watching a movie. but ironically/moronically i agree with a lot of the complaints

The Alienator
MemberNoobFeb-15-2013 3:17 PMI would say about 3/5. The campaign lacks the terror of going face to face with a xenomorph (that the lastest AVP game had), and treats it like an arcade shooter, very disappointing. I felt no excitement or tension what so ever in the campaign apart from the level when you have to go unarmed through the dark sewers, passing blind Xenomorphs, that can hunt you down if you make to much noise. O'Neil is about the most emotionless and dumbest AI I have ever seen in a game, when he talks he barely moves his mouth, and his face expression stays blank. Often he stands in the corridors staring at something I apparently can't see, and when we get attacked by Aliens, he shouts "Weapons hot!" but continues to stand there and admire the wall while I am being ripped apart by the relentless Aliens. The Aliens are actually very well done and animated in the campaign, and gave me a good challenge. The graphics are blotchy and horrible, the game isn't scary and you fight fellow humans more than the Aliens. Multiplayer is good fun however, with 4 game modes and each game about an hours enjoyment. Escape mode is my favourite, as it feels good to be watching other marines backs while they are welding, or, being an alien, relentlessly attacking them while they wait for the lift. The aliens in multiplayer are badly animated, and there is plenty of minor bugs in this came. It overall seems really unfinished, and they really should, with about 5 years in development, have made a better job of it. So that is why I rate it a 3/5.

MemberNoobFeb-15-2013 3:19 PMGame is awesome to me, throws me back into the realm and gave it a different twist. To me, it is a captivating game that didn't focus on the Xenos, but the secret works of Weyland-Yutani and what they tried to do to prevent anyone else knowing what was being done, hence the mercs. This whole uproar reminds me of people being upset that Prometheus was what it was and not a continuation of the Aliens franchise, this being being similar by focusing on the marines. Barely on mission 3 but so far again, awesome game. Redminded me of Doom 3 but with an Aliens theme, there were some areas that could've been better so far (the crawling out of the severed umbilical would've been better playable instead of cinematically). The graphics on ps3 are there, I just feel bad for those who play it on Xbox, that release does look poor (tearing and graphics quality). I purchased the CE and the statue is awesomely detailed and is a nice addition to my collection. Overall, worth buying... On ps3 anyway. Thanks.

MemberNoobFeb-15-2013 4:29 PMI am a diehard fan of the Alien franchise and Prometheus and i was looking forward to this game for such a long time, and reading all the reviews and watching all the previews i really thought i was going to be treated.
The Good bits
I love being able to delve into the world of Aliens once more with new spin off stories and to play using all the weapons from the movie, and to see some old characters, it was nostalgic. The story was pretty good (for the most part) the characters, voice overs and the authenticity was awesome.
The bad bits…
I am completely bewildered as to how Gearbox can make something so poor looking, completed and released in 2013 after creating the games they are so well known for (and awesome) in the past.
The Graphics are so poor, (the lighting is good and covers up everything else) to me it looks like a glorified ps2 game. Why are the graphics soooo poor? :(
Ok, so the Aliens, probably the most important factor to get right in the game, and they are in fact the poorest elements of the game. How long did the designers and programmers spend on these creatures, a week?
Besides the poor graphics i already mentioned, the movement of them is so poor, AI or online controlling them. If an Alien comes up to attack you.. well thats just it, they do this little jazz dance and try and talk to you, and you can melee attack them too… omfg! yes because just the other day i took down a rhino with that same kind of attack
The aiming on the guns.. so clumsy, sluggish, and bad bad bad! Im used to playing shoot 'em ups, they are my fav games i played everything from socom to COD for kids and i am pretty good at them, and although the controls here are pretty much identical to COD, its so freaking hard to accurately shoot the enemy even if you change about the sensitivity..
Tbh, i really think you have two possibilities here, the guys making this game did it with not as much energy as they should have because they were working on 'bigger' projects leaving ACM as a side project, which could explain the long wait considering its not like it is a quality game.
Or second, this is some wacky conspiracy to turn people off this franchise because i am so disappointed its an understatement to say this..
If the designers, artists and programmers put 100% energy and focus into the design and gameplay of the Alien itself, the creature we all love and made that element a masterpiece you could forgive so much of the other poor factors, but this is infact one of the biggest disappointments.
The game is not scary, pretty easy and no challenge. Remember Alien Trilogy, that game was awesome, scary, very difficult and everything an Alien game should be (disregarding the graphics for the date of release)
I tried to like this, even when everyone around me was slating it i said nothing because im such a fan.. but i cant..
Summary, and i hate to be mean because even though hard work went into this.. i will never trust Gearbox with anything again!

MemberNoobFeb-15-2013 6:21 PMHonestly, I thought the campaign was quite good. Although the AI were pretty stupid and didn't help to much, but the overall story and game play I would give that a 3.5/5. But I also think that the enemy soldiers did kind of ruin the game play (NEED MORE XNEOS!). As for the multiplayer so far I would give that maybe 3/5. enemy players aren't exactly easy to kill, whether your a marine or a xeno. I also think that they should add in dedicated servers because I'm constantly having trouble finding games and when I do some games I will have up to 600-700 ping. So overall I would give the game a 3.8/5.
(Hopefully they add in DServers)

MemberNoobFeb-16-2013 7:12 AMThis game is great ! Any fan of shooter must try it, nervous and very fun gameplay, lights and sounds and music magically mixed to create thrilling suspense, good story told as you play and not beside the gaming time, all these features create a unic experience any fan of shooter and/or Aliens universe can't miss.
If I have any regret, I would say some graphics are a bit outdated, humans 3D models mainly. 4.5 out of 5.

MemberNoobFeb-16-2013 7:37 AM@Svanya Congratulations for your game and I have a burning quesion on my lips : can we hope an update which would make Aliens Colonial Marines playable with the move on PS3 ? I would just love to play it with the sharpshooter, as I played Killzone 3 and Resistance 3. Please say yes !

MemberNoobFeb-16-2013 11:21 PMI enjoyed the multiplayer more. I kept attacking a queen and she would chase me and even catch me!!!! It was actually scary as hell. Then one of my team mates would revive me and I would do it again. Lots of fun, Great on a large screen like you are in the alien universe. Also at the end they played the end of the game scene which I will not devulge but it does provide you with a couple of clues and I like the way they just passed over much of alien 3 as much as they could without violating what was shown in the movie. Its kind of like they extended aliens into another movie. Cant say more without giving anything away. PS althrough I am getting better, I am really having a tough time getting though with ONeal, who is totally worthless and not any help at all.

MemberNoobFeb-17-2013 6:31 PMI'm still getting my a** kicked with little improvement even by practice and buying a new xbox game controller - but then I never did get used to game controllers as it is. The only thing that would solve my problem so I could focus on the storyline would be godemode but the trainers are difficult to download and I a havent gotten one to work after going through all the trouble to download one anyway. This is the most difficult game I have ever played. The biggest problem I have is no saving until you reach a cerrtain point but I cant reach the point without getting killed first so it just goes on and on with me getting killed over and over again.............................

MemberContributorFeb-21-2013 10:51 PMI officially completely finished A:CM and am impressed. I went along with all the bad reviews from sme people on this site and around the internet. But in all honesty, i thought the only problems were, the checkpoints(not being able to save at a specific point,) rushed/unfinished graphics, and the way it was forced into the universe. The last problem is simply me being taken back by the fact that instead of having some crazy, awesome interesting twist that made sense of the eggs on the sulaco they just patched(for a lack of better words) something over it. Also i noticed poor nostromo001 dealt with o'neal's annoying/lazy self, but i actually didnt encounter any problems with the characters during campaign. So in the end i still think this deserves my original 3.5/5 rating, but i enjoyed it much more than i thought
